I have recently started playing Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on my Nintendo Switch again with some friends on local play and we have all noticed a very serious amount of ridiculous loading time for almost everything in the game. You can't go very far on a horse before some glitch occurs that creates an invisible wall and freezes everything past it, forcing my friends and I to exit the game and reload it just to get it to work. Also, most of the UI is incredibly laggy, as in chests and even crafting tables sometimes take upwards of 10-15 seconds to load. In addition to the invisible wall glitch, travel is also slowed down quite a bit due to the fact that the terrain has problems loading in so you can see it, whether the chunk render distance is set high or low. Also, blocks will have only their textures left behind after being broken, and almost all particles and character models shake as the game struggles to update their position. I would really appreciate it if this could be patched in another update or something because this very clearly breaks the game and makes it nigh unplayable.

You are right, the game in Switch is nearly unplayable specially at multiplayer due to performance issues. The lag seems to be caused by the autosave function. This is a problem since the game autosaves every 90 seconds and is not possible to disable it. There are delays at block placing / mining. Not loading chunks that allow you to see through the ground. Menu opening delays, bad game experience in general.

I play on iPad, on a realm created by Switch user.
The realm's performance; loading very slowly, issues with invisible walls, too many mobs in areas even in new unexplored areas (especially drowners that do not despawn) and so forth have been increasing over the last few months. There are only 4 players on this realm, and we do not all play at the same time.
In one small area in the ocean, there are hundreds of zombie/drowners, add that to the next area and the next, the lag on the switch is crazy slow with screen jittering. It is impossible to clear out these areas.
The screen jittering doesn't happen on the iOS as much unless there are just too many mobs both animals and monsters (which we spend time killing - since it is a survival world).
We have noticed mobs even in unexplored areas - while that might be a different bug (like falling to death on login), it is seems to be one of the major causes of lag at times.
thanks.

Yes, moving into other areas produces night mobs in daytime. They burn because it’s daytime.

Glad I'm not the only one who is experiencing this. I mean, obviously I couldn't have something different than everybody else but this means that I didn't just screw something up in the settings. I haven't tried mobile in a long while, but I would imagine it's experiencing the same issues. I know Mojang develops this, but I hope Minecraft doesn't become another Microsoft product that they screw up because they're too focused on features rather than functionality.

I'm having the same issues for Minecraft Bedrock 1.8.1 on Xbox One S.
Are you using any resource packs, and if so, does clearing them improve the loading times?

My realm uses the beta texture pack, but I also experience it on my singleplayer worlds without resource packs. I also experience the lag/performance issues in the menus when I'm not even in a game.

In Switch the problem is present even without resources packs.

Yeah, I'm not using anything extra.
Thank you for your report!
