I am having the same issue. It's been 3 weeks and have been given no solution.

Same issue.

Starting up the software, logging in and loading my realm takes longer then the time I get to spend in my realm before getting kicked.

Both on WiFi and cable connection. (250Mb cable connection)

Putting the console in DMZ has made no change with connection. (So not a Nat type issue)

I bought a realms subscription just yesterday and now I can't play at all.

It's sad to think that kids are paying their allowance for this buggy piece of software. It crashes, lags, disconnects, drops framerates, has music errors, corrupts savegames, has general stability issues, gets updated for content more then quality. has micro transactions everywhere. I'm tempted to start up the legacy software or Java, just to have an enjoyable playing experience again. But I just want to play what I am actually paying for!

Update:

After getting kicked a dozen times from my realm on switch I started my realm on mobile (WiFi). Played for several hours without issue. Started the switch again and got kicked after a few minutes every time I tried

We have two Nintendo Switches and have been playing on a 10 player realm since around Christmas and have bought two copies of Minecraft from the Nintendo store. Performance has gotten worse over time to the point it is now unusable. We play on desktop/laptop pc on the same realm and can play all day (one wifi and one wired connection) without being kicked. Also android and ipad seem ok. The Switch loses connection after a few minutes. Today we tried a connection on the home router and it lost connection after 3 minutes. So we setup a phone as hotspot and it lost connection after 4 minutes. So we went and bought two Nintendo licenced USB to ethernet adapters, disabled wifi autoconnect and restarted the Switch. It would not connect. We tried two different network switches and two different cables. While this was happening a PC was continuously connected to the realm on the same Internet connection. Then one of the kids tried to connect with the other switch and it lost connection after a few minutes.

Our Internet connection is only 50Mbps but is reliable and we are not having any issues on other platforms. We had the same problem on a very good tethered mobile connection (phone also does not experience these disconnects).

Update: Nintendo OS to 8.0.1 and Minecraft to 0.11 on 24 April and no change from 0.10. Both switches disconnecting repeatedly. Game still very slow to start. No problems on other platforms using same network.

I have had the same experience with Minecraft on my Switch. It was the only reason I bought it and it is garbage. My Xbox One and Xbox One X never have connection problems yet I can on average get about 5 minutes on the Switch before it crashes. This has been going on for at least 4 or 5 months. How is this not fixed yet? This is a gamebreaking bug.

I have found a work around until a fix is created.

Solution found on Reddit:

Go to settings > data management > save data cloud > Minecraft And turn off automatic backup, then make a manual backup, After that, go to settings > data management > manage save data > delete save data and sign in in game

Basically, these steps back up your save data and dowloaded content to the cloud (you can get it back later anytime, don't worry) and then delete the save data so you have no worlds in your game. For some reason, this prevents the bug from happening and you can play on servers and realms all you want.

When you want your worlds back, go into system settings, save data management, pick minecraft and redownload your data from the cloud.

You have to do this every time you wanna switch from your worlds to servers. Save to cloud. Delete data. Sign in.

System settings, data management, redownloaded your stuff from the cloud.
