New Villagers do not go inside at night in Old Village

Update: Several in game days passed of the villagers standing locked in their rooms with beds refusing to sleep before one night I noticed them laying down in the beds instead of standing on them- I had been constructing a hallway system to keep them safe and allow them to walk to other buildings with workstations but they began sleeping before I ever freed them. Still no repopulation despite 8+ trades- but order has been restored somewhat.Β  Still keeping them contained until I can trust them.

Old Post: After updating my game and Realm server- I had a few Villagers I had locked away because previously they would leave their doors open at night and die. One was alive pre-1.11.0 update and the other was a zombie villager that I healed after the update. Now that I have freed them, they wander aimlessly outside the village during the day- occasionally going inside during the day to look at the Lectern and Cartography table I placed inside a house- I have also put white wool beds in a few of the houses and they do not go into any of the houses once night falls- they just loiter outside despite visiting the houses during the day. Tried creating a new cobblestone house for them where they loiter with decent space inside along with a bed and they still do not go inside.

i havnt done any testing on the switch release but i have noted that bedrock villagers nighttime motives are geared twards locating "their" bed that they have claimed.

if a villager has not claimed a bed, then they will wonder aimlessly at night because they have no where to go. their only nighttime activity so far appears to be "goto bed; sleep"

more over, with out a bed, they may or may not be tied to that village. the only reason they may be sticking around is because they have claimed profession blocks in said village.

a bell may or may not also serve the same purpose for a villager with neither a bed or profession block.

Well I definitely have beds around that were claimable via green sparkle but the villagers would not claim them. Have not tried to build a bell yet.

yeah, if you have available beds(unclaimed with 2x2 empty blocks on one side. two beds on the same height can not share the same 2x2 "entry space") then you just found your self a nice wierd bug.

the bell idea was just an idea for keeping villagers around without a bed or a profession block. its not going to keep you bedless villagers from wondering around at night.

UPDATE: After several ingame nights and constructing a protected hallway / fence system to allow them to walk out of the bedrooms to workstations- I found the villagers sleeping in their beds before I ever even released them to find workstations. I made a series of cobble/fence.

They now properly sleep in their beds at night, although my cleric sometimes will sometimes get stuck outside till the moon is 1/4 the way through it's arc before he goes to bed.Β

Seemingly problem fixed itself- for the record I only have three villagers and haven't had them repopulate yet despite doing 9+ trades between two of them, and I've got well over 15 doors that meet villager standards for house count- but it's only been 2-3 in game days since they started sleeping in beds, so we'll see what happens.
