UPDATE: After several ingame nights and constructing a protected hallway / fence system to allow them to walk out of the bedrooms to workstations- I found the villagers sleeping in their beds before I ever even released them to find workstations. I made a series of cobble/fence.
They now properly sleep in their beds at night, although my cleric sometimes will sometimes get stuck outside till the moon is 1/4 the way through it's arc before he goes to bed.
Seemingly problem fixed itself- for the record I only have three villagers and haven't had them repopulate yet despite doing 9+ trades between two of them, and I've got well over 15 doors that meet villager standards for house count- but it's only been 2-3 in game days since they started sleeping in beds, so we'll see what happens.
What an amazing problem to have- get the flamethrower and start melting them down
PC Java edition only currently- says so in the update notes
I don't believe this is a bug- the update information said these are still essentially useless outside of villager's using them to select a profession.
It seems the "Books not stacking after disenchanting" bug might be related- items are retaining their old "ID" or XP costs after disenchanting.
Well I definitely have beds around that were claimable via green sparkle but the villagers would not claim them. Have not tried to build a bell yet.
Posted something similar regarding a disenchanted iron Pickaxe still costing 32XP to repair post-disenchant
Now working for me
