Minecraft iOS hung at loading screen after 1.11.1 update

iPad Pro, iOS 12.2

Minecraft auto updated to 1.11.1 and now will not start - frozen at loading screen (where the loading equaliser is showing), but never gets past the 7th loading bar. Tried restartin, shutting down, exiting apps etc.

Can't reinstall app, as this account is local only (don't want this game on xbox live yet).

Immediately started happening after update - loading screen just hangs, doesn't actually crash out.

Have tried starting Minecraft with WiFi on/off - same issue (hangs at same point in the progress bar)

If you do decide to delete the app, there is a way to save your world's: Go to the Files app; On My iPhone/iPad; Minecraft; games; com.mojang; minecraftWorlds. All world's should be stored in this folder, so save all the contents somewhere safe.

What about your skins and coins? Can I copy the entire Minecraft folder from iPad to iPad?

I'm having this same problem on an iPad 5th generation.  I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and it didn't fix it.  I also completely restored the iPad to factory settings, only installed Minecraft 1.11.1 on it and it still didn't work.  This version works fine on my iPhone 8.

Thanks John, I’ll wait for the next update to see if it fixes the problem.

As a test, I installed this on an iPhone XR, and had the same problem - hung at the same point on loading screen.

Then, this magically started working (on both phone and ipad) yesterday, without doing anything - loaded fine, no problems at all. Must have been something server side, either relating to my iCloud account or iCloud data.

No issues starting/using Minecraft now.

Thanks for updating this issue Tosh.  I checked my iPad 5th generation and it is indeed working again.  I copied all of the Minecraft data back and it works.
