This renders them slightly useless since you have to be really near them to be able to hear them. On bedrock edition can be barely heard from 16 blocks while they should be heard from 48 blocks.

Still an issue in 1.19.41.1. Noteblocks can technically be heard from 44 blocks away but only very quietly and not at all from 45. The drop-off is too extreme, meaning the volume of a song played by a noteblock circuit fluctuates as a play stands still and listens to it. It limits the size of the possible circuit (length of song) in order to ensure it's audible. This doesn't seem to happen on Java - the noteblock volume doesn't drop off significantly for at least 30 blocks.
Can confirm. You can barely hear them. I hope this gets fixed.
