Villager Trading in bedrock

I have been on the fence about complaining. It sort of works and worry it will get worse if you work on it.

It has been possible to field a fairly large trading area. I had over 20 librarians working. It took some work joining a new realm.

What i found having more villagers than beds or stations breaks currently working villagers. Created breeder, send them to nether. Bring them in 1 at a time. This is a bug and needs to be fixed.

Now even bringing them in 1 at a time breaks the village. All villagers were working and refreshing. Brought in 2 or 3 at same time half of librarians broke. Fix please.

At the very least as i suggested before. Regardless of beds and stations. Have the villagers reset everyday. Like the artsy fartsy dream you have of villagers. But would rather have game that works.

The idea that a villager cant use a bed its standing on or a station next to him. But can lock on to one being used 50 blocks away is stupid.

It was bad enough having this issue with doors in old system. But it was doable. But many workstations are useful. And i cant use them because even 50 blocks or more away they screw up trading.

Please fix.

While there are some mechanics around villages that could maybe use some improvement, and there may even be some bugs involved, we really can't do anything about them if all you tell us is that the villagers are "broken".

I also suspect that it's not as bad as you think it is. You're most likely talking about villagers giving up one bed or workstation and claiming a different one, because you don't understand why they're doing that and therefore think it's a bug. There are actually good reasons for them to do that sometimes, usually because they can't get close enough to find it so after a few attempts they give up and look for another. This kind of problem is worse in large villages, because they're more likely to wander far enough to lose track of their bed or workstation.

There are things you can do to help them, though. One is to make grass paths that lead them back toward the village center and connect to their homes and workstations, because villagers prefer to walk on paths when they're available. Also, they're more likely to climb up a block if you give them a stair or slab to make the transition easier. A third thing you can do is make sure their houses have doors on the side that faces the meeting place or center of the village, because if the door they need to go through is on the opposite side of the building they'll have a lot more trouble finding it.

In general, a village can work pretty smoothly if you arrange for all the workers to stay clustered not too far from the center or meeting place. Unfortunately, if they have to wander very far, they wind up relinquishing their beds and workstations, then another villager grabs one of those at random and maybe also grabs a workstation far away from it. Then that villager has trouble navigating, gives up its bed, and the next thing you know everybody's playing musical chairs. I think that's the kind of situation you've got and that you're so frustrated with, which is certainly understandable. But like I said, I believe you can make it better, you just need to learn how. I would suggest reaching out to the community on forums or the Minecraft Discord for ways you can structure your village to be less chaotic.

Regarding having a bed and workstations for your own use near the village, that's possible too. The trick is knowing that villagers can only detect these blocks when they're 4 or fewer blocks above or below the ground they're standing on. So just build yourself a 2-story house and put them upstairs, or dig a deep cellar and put them there.

I'm going to close this ticket as Incomplete, because you really haven't given any details that would let us focus on a possible bug here. Please try to keep an open mind and learn ways to make your village work more smoothly; it really can be done! If you do find a bug that you can describe for us in detail at some point, so that we can reproduce and study it, we welcome you to report it, but it would be a great help if you reviewed the Issue Guidelines linked below first. Good luck!
