For a long time, I had a huge issue where connecting to my friend via Xbox live for multiplayer. It always fail on my Android device, which would never get past the screen of "connecting to multiplayer game". But i tried a IOS device(which is the same operating as the friend hosting the room). It worked the first time but once the game kicked me out due to wifi issues, I tried to rejoin and it takes around 5 minutes to wait to go through the locating server screen, which almost always fails. After many attempts, I got to connect to my friend but when I tried to rejoin my friend, it fails. My last resort was to use my iPhone 6s, and it was still very inconsistent and kept saying "failed to connect to multiplayer". I connected to VPN from the start to end as there are many people saying how VPN would make it work.
