Custom Skins Switching in Multiplayer

Me and a few of my friends were playing multiplayer Minecraft. We were having fun when we noticed that our skins had switched. The friend's skin I had was that of Berry B. Benson from the Bee Movie (which had some transparency on it), and mine was a custom skin of a purple bird.

Me and my friends use different operating systems, for example, I use Android 9, and my other friends use iOS 13.1, so we assumed it was problems on those ends. When we rebooted the server and rejoined, the issue was gone, but came back in several minutes.

When we sprinted, wore armor, or had an empty hand, it would be someone else's skin, but when we opened it up, it would say it was our own skins. When we saw each other, it was the skins we both equipped (I would see her skin as her skin, and she would see my skin as mine). This would not happen with purchased skins. I've looked up problems for something similar and have come across nothing relevant to my problem, so much help would be appreciated!
