Start Up Error/Crash

Apologies in advance if this is a duplicate. I tried searching for common issues and could only find one similar one, however it differed by the platform being an android. 

I start the software from the Switch home screen and it's just a black screen for about three minutes after it says licensed by Nintendo. After a few moments has gone by, it will either show the Mojang loading screen like it should have already done or will go back to the Switch's home screen and say the app closed because an error occurred. Note that during the period where the display is blank, it is unresponsive; pressing the home button does nothing and sometimes even pressing power on the Switch itself or holding it down gives no result until after the black screen goes away, and sometimes it acts as if the buttons where never pressed after the unresponsive period is over.
