This has only been reported on PS4 so far.
It appears that all text input is being interpreted as a Latin character encoding, regardless of the actual encoding being entered. It reportedly affects chat, book & quill, signs, and item names.
Reported languages include Japanese, Chinese, and Cyrillic (Russian, presumably others).

Still occurring on the 1.14.30 Hotfix and 1.14.40 Hotfix. It's impossible to put some special characters (é,è,@,ê ... and same the color characters §) on signs, anvils, books, anywhere you can write

Hi. This "Japanese input issue" has not been resolved (at least for me).
I recently started to play Minecraft on my PS4. When I try to type in a name tag and/or a sign board, all I see is a regular (alpha/numeric) keyboard. There's no button to switch to Japanese keyboard.
I would love to see this fixed.
