Drowned do not attack nor burn outside water. They become neutral.

Usually Drowned are hostile. Now They don't attack me at all though I am survival. Happened in multiple worlds. Happens at both Day and Night. Happens only outside water. They don't attack even if I literally stick my face to theirs. They only attack if I hit them. I have a recorded video on My Xbox Live Account but I don't know how to attach it here. Hope you can fix it. I don't know if this is relevant, but, about 99% of the Drowned s I killed dropped Tridents

I can confirm for Win 10 edition 1.14.3 hotfix. I started thinking it was intended. Sometimes they attack me, sometimes they don't. I think there is a link to the game not processing the AI properly (if it isn't intended). Endermen, turtles, villagers, among others, seemed to be effected.

GoldenHelmet

I am inclined to think Wolff is right there there is a very broad problem with AI that could be manifesting here.

However, I believe drowned are supposed to be passive when out of water during daytime. This is described in the wiki entry for "drowned".

Do you think it's possible that the drowned you have encountered are becoming passive when out of water during the day, then not switching back to hostile at night time?

RERJAMRGC

They used to attack me, day and night before. Now they just keep staring at me all the time. I will check as soon as possible and see if they don't actually switch back to Hostile at night. Also, there happens to be a problem with Endermen not attacking if I stare at them or even hit them. It seems like Phantoms stopped spawning too.
P.S. Sorry I had to reply so late, I was unable to access my computer due to problems with my school.

RERJAMRGC

They don't switch back to hostile at night. Only if they are in the water they attack. Also, some of them have this glitch thing where they keep dancing in circles. Like they keep rotating around themselves while trying to swim and they end up not swimming at all. If you can give me an Xbox chat account I can send you several recordings of them doing that.

P.S. Sorry I keep replying late

@Rebecca Jason Andrews no worries about the timing of your replies. The bug tracker tends to move slowly, as helpers and moderators are volunteers and it can take time to clarify and reproduce an issue before we forward it to the developers. I am interested to see your videos but I will have to get back to you about the Xbox chat transfer, as it is not something I’m personally familiar with. If there is any way you could upload the files here or to a file sharing site that would be helpful.

The issue of drowned spinning is being tracked at MCPE-45645, so please add your vote to that ticket. We can only track one issue per ticket.

RERJAMRGC

The problem is that I can't upload them, though I would do so gladly. It's actually more like I don't know how to upload them.

GoldenHelmet

If anyone could upload a world with an unexpectedly passive drowned in it, that would be helpful.

GoldenHelmet

@Rebecca Jason Andrews if you mean the xbox live chat function, my username is GoldenHelmet403. I haven't used the chat before, but if you know how to send a file through it I should be able to retrieve it. I think I found your username on there and have sent a message.

RERJAMRGC

Yes, you did send me. I sent you the captures as well.

May I ask though how you found my Xbox profile, I'd like to know

GoldenHelmet

I clicked on your name at the top of a comment to view your profile, and tried the Username shown there.

The videos mentioned by Rebecca that I was able to view did not clearly show drowned acting neutral at night time. One video seemed to show drowned acting neutral during daytime rainy weather, which is expected. I tested for a while in 1.14.30 and was not able to reproduce drowned remaining neutral on land at night.

With regard to burning, the videos showed drowned burning in sunlight but not while in shade or in rain. This is also expected. (Note that "shade" means there is a block that blocks sunlight light directly above the block where the mob is standing, regardless of how high up the shading block is and regardless of the light level where the mob is standing.)

RERJAMRGC

Ok, I sent a much clearer Recording to your account. Please check it.

GoldenHelmet

I viewed Rebecca Jason Andrews follow-up recording mentioned above and did not find it convincing. It showed a drowned that seemed a bit slow to attack, but it was coming from a pool underneath the player position and may have just had a bit of a pathfinding difficulty.

TheTamedWolf

Idk if this is what the ticket is referring to but i have experienced Drowned being neutral clear weather under trees on land. Here is another example of what i see. Go to 5:53 in the video https://youtu.be/L_VXfY9UH7I

GoldenHelmet

@Wolff that is a Java Edition video. This is a Bedrock Edition bug report.

TheTamedWolf

@GoldenHelmet I am aware of that. My point was that it was what I have been seeing on Bedrock. Anyway, I have a video of its behavior, and i saw this on the wiki: — "If a drowned is in any way removed by force from the water, and all nearby water sources have been blocked from it, it becomes passive in the daytime."

Please tell me if it is intended. Ignore the mob's AI/Path Finding issues. I am aware that the system needs love.

@Wolff Thank you for putting the video together.
The wiki statement you’ve quoted is slightly incorrect about drowned behavior insofar as drowned are neutral outside water in the daytime, not passive. Neutral means they only attack if they are attacked first, passive means the don’t attack at all. As to whether this is intended, that question has been raised directly with MCPE-65224 and we’ll have to wait and see what comes of that ticket.

This ticket reported that drowned were remaining neutral at night and not burning during the day, and I’ve not been able to reproduce that or, seen anyone else reproduce it unambiguously.

The video you’ve shared is surprising to me in that it shows a drowned that had already targeted you become passive as soon as its head was out of water. That’s not what I would have expected and may warrant a separate report. The game stores mob location by the block the foot is in.
Edit: watched the video again and realized that the drowned becomes neutral when the player’s feet are out of water. It was just coincidence that the drowned’s head came out at the same time.
