Please let me know if there is an open bug report on this issue. I admit I have trouble using the search bar. Some letters don't work there so I am relying on google search at the moment.
This bug has occurred on both xbox and android devices in my experience. Most often occurrence is with using tools. The item will break and vanish but will remain as a ghost item within the tool bar. In-game fix: Use your empty slot to mine out another block. The slot item will then actually "break" and the empty hotbar slot will gain it's proper function.
As for ghost blocks: unconfirmed, "using" the item again as if to place the ghost block, may allow the return of the hotbar's proper function while in-game versus having to restart the client.
If a ghost item is "stuck" else where other than the hotbar it may still be possible to "grab" it and place it to the hotbar, then "use/place" the ghost item to restore the hotbar slot to it's proper function.
If the item is not a "useable" item, try placing it in an item frame and using lava or fire to destroy the items. "Dropping" the item into fire or lava directly from it's spot in the hotbar might also work.
This is definitely not just a visual bug. It happens regardless of skin used. Logging relogging doesn't help. Mine says Steve and my username isnt used even with commands. It actually stops you from accessing your ender chest as well. Pets dont recognize you. The title screen says you are logged in after clicking on the button. Reinstalling the game doesnt help. Logging relogging in the xbox app doesnt help. Similar store accounts dont help. I'm on windows 10 with 11 upgrade. Fast internet, uninterrupted. Other devices log in fine. Small delays but it does log in and display the username properly within seconds. Uninstall reinstall launcher doesnt help either.
I'll have to get back to you on that. The world is hosted on Xbox. I'm not sure if they are able to upload or send it. I will also look back at my older worlds to see if it's happening on them as well. If a video can also help I will definitely attempt to get a clip.
I have noticed that 1.20.60 fixed some/most lag but then 1.20.62 brought it back, badly. I really hope this info helps. I know it might be a group of things that are building up. These are some things that I have noticed. Including minecarts being super slow. It was seemingly fixed in . 60 as well but returned when updating to . 62.
Chests loading out and back in as you turn causes extreme lag.
Xbox players in general seem to cause substantial lag. They experience lag too, constantly and especially when I, on an android, come into render towards them.
The trader and llamas spawning in causes freeze lag
Opening any inventory causes freeze lag.
Moving Shulker boxes that have any items in it, within an inventory space causes extreme slow but constant lag.
Note: I don't experience constant lag like they (xbox host) seem too. Just at these specific times/actions.
Edit: Forgot to add that I use an Onn.11 pro Tablet android 13. The host uses an Xbox One.
Something about the lag I'm experienceing has changed from .60 to .62. Everytime I look in the direction of the host player on Xbox, massive lag happens. However, the same seems to happen when the host comes near me. It seems to be worse when the player doesn't move for a little while.
Edit: I forgot to mention the change itself: .60 things improved but .62 brought it back.
1.20.62 I want to say that something regarding lag was fixed slightly before I updated to 1.20.62. Quickly I noticed that whatever this lag freeze that happens has returned. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence. But I'm sure I hadn't experienced it much, if at all in 1.20.60.
I have finally experienced this bug myself.
Twice. An unlocked villager, infuriatingly a mending villager, that had absolutely no reason to change had become a farmer for a split second and then back to a librarian (lost a good deal). I locked in a fire aspect 2 villager and he changed to a different librarian after a split second of unemployment. Idk what is causing this but it seems to be getting worse. Also I want to mention that two babies were born even though 1 bed was available. I wish I had video of the false trade switch. The host world is on Xbox and I'm playing using an android. The host locked in the trade. 1.20.51 and 1.20.60
I apologize for the late response! Yes, I do experience spikes when interacting with inventory. Whether it be the player's or containers. Notably chests but all seem to be affected. I then noticed that anytime pillagers or wandering traders spawn in, they freeze the game for a few seconds. Also, redstone is really slow so I'm assuming tick lag is what's happening but idk. I've found that *prebuilt and player made structures create lag spikes even in single player worlds. Nether portals don't seem to change the lag, on or off. We have removed lots of the wolves, horses and other animal mobs from the area and the lag is still there. There seems to be more lag from camels, relative to other animals. Stuff like that but we can never pinpoint exactly what's happening. If I find anything else I'll add it to this comment to try and help.
This is happening for a friend who plays on Xbox. She describes it as suddenly becoming another item. This causes her to drop items out of her inventory (I'm assuming it is a code/lag failed swap attempt and her inventory is full.) This is occuring 1.20.51. In the same world, im seemingly not affected as it hasn't happened to me.
Have the devs considered this to be a severe case of tick lag?Minecarts and redstone are so slow too. It seems to only happen around places that players spend much time in from our experience. The lag happens everywhere but it's severe around build heavy areas, no entities required as a criteria.
This could be what is causing the lag along with obvious inventory/gui loading problems. The DuraSpeed on my tablet is restricting Minecraft. It says this happens "when cpu or memory resources are so tight that it affects system performance." I hope this info is useful in some way.

Hope this helps any. Version 1.20.31. Our world is on Xbox and I join it using an android 13 tablet. We experience lag spikes almost in the same exact areas throughout our base. Sometimes one really huge one and other times it's multiple small ones in succession.(Inventory lag makes it worse; separate ticket). I removed banners and removed many, not all, mobs and we have no villagers in render. I removed maps and item frames. These actions haven't improved anything. Removed nether portal, nothing changed. Messed with many settings, again no changes. Not sure what else to test atm.
Can confirm on 1.20.30 pressure sensitive buttons are causing rapid movement or unusable. My PS4 L2 button is mapped to scroll through the hot bar; it skips. My R2 button is mapped to use/place; doesn't let me eat or draw bow and will place 2 blocks instead of 1 most of the time. Edit: I am using a PS4 controller, paired to an android.
Edit: Can confirm bug is present in 1.20.32 hotfix.
It was fine for me on 1.20.15 but the recent update is giving me strange problems with both the R2 and L2 buttons on PS4 remote. I'm paired to an android 13. It's either too sensitive and places blocks twice or won't let me eat or draw the bow at all. Actually quite unplayable with that part. Should I make a new ticket for this bc I can confirm this is still happening. There is a similar ticket for Java. The expected behavior is for the crops to pop out when player made light is gone. (They then can be harvested/picked up.) This wouldn't happen when it's dark under skylight, which is also expected.
What's the solution to this? This ticket says fixed but I just experienced the shield texture upside down in the crafting grid and my character is missing. Restarted the game. Character is back but the shield is still upside down. No texture pack on.. In version 1.20.0
I've experienced this and made a ticket but was directed to here. I don't think this is resolved. My issue just happened. Nothing was suspicious. I've explored this path a few times. Upon my return, a chunk is gone. It is right in the middle of a river. It is not a visual glitch since I fell right through to the void and died. This never happened on this world before.
Edit: To clarify. I received no corruption message of any kind. Nothing suspicious. It quite literally appeared out of no where. The chunk is just, gone..
@hazel Has anyone tried to wait for the villagers to return to their block and work after being locked in, and see if they remain locked after the station is broken? I doubt it's that simple since it seems random, but worth checking.
Will there be a time and place in the future that we can ask for this to be a feature in both editions? Out of all the awesome updates and new, much appreciated, features being introduced recently, this change was 100% disheartening. Can there be a server vote for this, similar to the mob vote?
Happening in multiplayer. Version 1.19.51 both players on androids. Host is usually unaffected. Joining players experience bees coming out during rainstorms. This is how we know the host is fine. Rejoining sometimes fixes it but the storms shows up a few moments afterwards on the host as well. The weather is synced then.
This bug does occur on all devices it seems. From what I have been experiencing, especially lately, the bug seems to occur in the areas that have been massively edited by the player. Could this issue be a data save issue or an issue with how the game loads in the world? If so, it could explain the common lag issues in those areas specifically and why the player keeps getting disconnected from the client. It also could explain why those with great processors and internet speeds still experience this gross amount of lag. The game itself is unable to process the changes properly. I would love for this to be marked high priority. Dear Mojang has been making lots of wonderful changes under the hood so to speak, so I imagine the save and load process might need some tweaking to compensate. I have no complaints if they dedicated a whole update for this fix!
