When i am walking and placing a torch at the same time it places 2 torches most of the time. Block placement speed should be limited like in the java edition or it should be a toggle in the options so you can use it when building but disable it when mining or farming for example.

I don't mind the placement speed when building large things, but there should be a sensitivity slider for this. It is also causing doors to go spastic when opening them while walking.

I'm playing on win10, and block placement in 1.2.1 is indeed too fast - torches are always being placed in pairs which is wasteful, and while placing a row of blocks i keep misplacing some on top of the row instead of the y level i wanted

Can confirm, windows 10
I use a xbox controller and every time you click a trigger button it clicks it 2 or 3 times, so placing blocks, opening doors, buttons, pretty much anything you can interact with is broken.

Confirmed W10, with video: https://gfycat.com/ImpishGrandioseArmadillo

Yup. Its too fast. I am unintentionally placing way more blocks than I normally do. I simple mouse click on a PC will often result in the placement of 2 blocks.

I love how this issue was found over 2 weeks ago and wasn't fixed in the latest patch sarcasm.
I am still having this issue on both my Xbox and W10, and I would very much like a fix.

I can't believe this is still broken in 1.2.3.6...

Currently an issue on the Xbox one as well. It's very annoying. And throws me off when I build in creative/survival.

i also have it. i thought this git fixed in 1.2.3... win 10 edition here.

As of 1.2.5.12 this is now... different. It seems their "adjustments" to block placement involve preventing placement entirely if you move really quickly while holding down the right mouse button, but you can still move in a line and place blocks relatively quickly as well as in some other cases. The crazy block placement is more or less fixed, but I'm not sure that the changes cover every case. I also can't say for certain that their solution is good; I'll have to spend more time with it and see how it behaves.

That's good to know that they are working on in in the Dev/Beta builds will be interesting to see how it plays out in the release channel. I think that limiting block placement while moving fast isn't a good solution though. All they need is a block place timer. Limit block placements to say one block/item every 5 ticks. This means 4 blocks a second which is still faster than the java edition but will definitely prevent accidental placements. Heck they could even make it a feature and place it in the settings where you could configure it! This would make building in creative easier but prevent accidental placements in survival when falling, jumping, pushed by water, etc.

According to MCPE-28464, this is still an issue with slab placement/destruction. Describes how they are placed and destroyed at too quick of a speed.

The new changes to block placement have made planting much worse. After updating to 1.2.5 I can't plant a row of crops by just holding the button on the controller down, I need to keep pushing the button for every crop. Tedious and not very easy on the fingers.

The issue with Block Placement is still occurring on the Java Edition as well. Multiple Blocks, torches, etc. where is should only be one.

@Shinyhelmet Java Edition is a completely different codebase and problems there aren't related. They should be reported under Java Edition issues.

Reopened and confirmed for 1.14.
This seems to happen when you place a block while moving and the crosshair happens to cross a block boundary while the button is down, placing instantly instead of waiting for the usual block rhythm.
An easy way to make it more likely to reproduce is to give yourself a high speed effect:/effect @s speed 100 10 true
Then look straight down, walk, and click once to place a single torch. Often you'll place two in one click.

Affects bucket actions too, especially when trying to catch fish. See MCPE-44320.

Placing blocks quickly is useful. I think it should be slow at first but then get faster.

Several MLG/"bucket clutch" reports that were linked as duplicates of this issue are being linked to MCPE-100598 instead, where the particular issue with buckets placing and immediately picking up liquids is now tracked.

Still an issue

It was fine for me on 1.20.15 but the recent update is giving me strange problems with both the R2 and L2 buttons on PS4 remote. I'm paired to an android 13. It's either too sensitive and places blocks twice or won't let me eat or draw the bow at all. Actually quite unplayable with that part. Edit: Found my issue here https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-175113
Agreed, or even better...put it back to what it was. It was fine before. Don't even know why this was changed. It is literally impossible to place a single slab now
