yeah i have a similar problem on windows 10, but not only in caves.
it seems that the game is a lot darker, even on max brightness.
it is particularly more difficult in caves, where torches no longer do much, and it's hard to see.

I'm playing on win10, and block placement in 1.2.1 is indeed too fast - torches are always being placed in pairs which is wasteful, and while placing a row of blocks i keep misplacing some on top of the row instead of the y level i wanted

I have the same problem in my windows 10 version.
Regarding the mistake in identifying the maturity level - in the pc version there are mods that display the status of maturity - please consider adding this as a vanilla feature.
