Wolves that have been tamed have a chance to disappear when going through a nether portal.
13 dogs disappeared on a bedrock realm and couldn't be found when we went back to the overworld. I tested it in single player and it happened one other time out of 50 or so trips.

From my experience the animals don't actually despawn, they get teleported to the same coordinates (number wise) in the nether as the overworld. The reason why is because it doesn't properly calculate the *8 or รท8 mechanic that happens with players, sometimes resulting in the mobs being teleported to incorrect locations. This bug used to happen with players, but now it only affects entities.

Does anyone know of a fix or way around this bug which allows one to play in the nether without crashing?

This bug doesn't just happen when we go to the Nether, it also happens when animals and entities in general are on the borders of chunk

I had this happen this afternoon. I've brought tamed wolves through Nether portals many times. This is the first time I lost one.
I was playing with a friend in a locally hosted world. She has lost a cat before.
