The game doesn't acknowledge that I have a Nintendo switch online membership. This makes it unable to have an online multiplayer game and split screen at the same time. I have Nintendo switch online but the game sometimes shows a little communication error when loading and when you click on it it just says that there is bad Internet even when it is connected and good. I think that this is what the problem comes from. There is good internet it works to do multiplayer without split screen but when you try to do both it doesn't work. I am not on the beta.

I am also having similar issues. Using Nintendo Switch, wired internet connection. Playing on realm with friends is not a problem. Only if I want to do local coop is there an issue.
I receive error when trying to have a local player (in my house) join with two joy cons. Error states that I need a Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions to play online multiplayer. I have a paid subscription (single player, not family pass.) Error states that in order to bypass needing an online subscription, that I need to go to my world settings and turn off multiplayer support in the settings menu. Upon changing this setting, the game will still not let me load a second player.
When I create a new world and turn off multiplayer support before the world is even created, I still get the aforementioned (section 1.) error as stated above.
