[MCPE-69731] Suffocating in open air when standing in block where lava was

Was mining in the nether, hit a lava pocket, so blocked the lava with sand. After I stopped burning I was still dying but from suffocation. If I walk back into the same place I start suffocating again, despite being in a clear space
