When I return from the Nether I am spawning somewhere else in the overworld.

If this is what I think it is I'm also experiencing this issue. I have a portal with a 5x5 frame to enter the nether. The nether end of this portal is the same size. Going into the nether, these portals link properly but upon return to the overworld a new portal is created at opposite coordinates. I observed this on a superflat world.

It does not contain enough information and as such, we've unable to understand or reproduce the bug.
The behaviour you show in your screenshots is possible if another portal was present in the overworld. Portals search for existing portals in the opposite dimension. Check out some YouTube videos on portal linking.
If you still believe this to be a bug please provide detailed information on the world including portal information or an upload of the world.
