Water without action

Running water does not move a certain distance from the Player (Because it is a screen print, the water will not move, but even if it plays, it remains still in the air, even though it is rendered).

Is this on a realm or a single player world? Do you know what your simulation distance is set to?

Minecraft has a concept known as "ticking distance" or "simulation distance". Because it would be impossible for Minecraft to simulate every object in your entire, limitless Minecraft world, it instead only "processes" or "ticks" a certain distance around you.

What I believe is happening here is that you are moving outside of the simulation distance of the world which stops the water from "simulating" and dropping further. When you move back into sim distance it will start moving again.

If you don't believe this is the case please comment back with more information.
