I was using fire resistance (8:00) potions to explore some of the new biomes. I noticed my armor level (number of shields) was no longer full and checked my inventory. My helmet was gone completely and all other armor was in the red. This was just from swimming in lava with fire resistance. All armor was diamond and heavily enchanted.
