No "Enable mobile data" option in Minecraft Windows 10 Edition

Workaround from @unknown: Install

and manually enable "Use Cellular Data" in Settings > Profile.

In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, you have to open "Enable mobile data" in settings so that you can join the server with cellular network connections. But there is no such option in Windows 10 PC, so I couldn't join the server while LTE is turning on in my laptop.

So could you please make the "Enable mobile data" option available in Windows 10?

I have this same issue..

When attempting to connect to friends or realms while connected to LTE data an error stating that "You must be connected to WIFI to play with your friends." This only happens on LTE.  I have set the connection to be "not metered" and it still does not work.

Steps:

  1. Disconnect from wifi and/or ethernet.

  2. Connect to LTE/cellular service.

  3. Launch Minecraft Windows 10 edition.

  4. Attempt to connect to friends or Realm.

Observed Results:

  1. Pop up dialog stating "You must be connected to WIFI to play with friends"

  2. Fails to connect.

Expected Results:

  1. Connect to server and friends as is typical when using Cellular on a mobile device.

Screen Captures:

Windows 10: No option to enable cellular data.

Android: Option enabling cellular data.

LTE not set to metered.

Notes:

As noted in the original post there is no option within the Windows 10 version of Minecraft to allow for play over cellular data like there is on the mobile counterparts. This would be very handy to allow those with an LTE enabled laptop/tablet to play while on the go.

I have uploaded a pack that simply shows the toggle, please check if enabling it allows mobile data connection.

Skajjie, This pack worked!! Thank you. I didn't realize at first that I needed to activate it, but now it's working perfectly.

Thank you very much for following through on this.

Skaijie, appreciate the work out, it works, thank you!

I wonder how Minecraft is even able to know the type of connection of my PC... I think that if Mojang has anticipated the cellular data on PC, they should have done it completely and correctly since the beginning.

Where can I find @Skaijie 's pack to make th toggle appear?

@Skaijie I was able to download, import and enable the work-around resource pack on 1.19.51.

However, neither did the toggle show up anywhere in settings (where exactly?), nor did it fix the issue.

In fact, running Minecraft on my Snapdragon SQ3 (Surface Pro 9) with this pack enabled causes it to bugcheck after about a minute!?

Any other workaround possible? Or progress on fixing the root cause?

I'd REQUEST: Just don't check for cellular or WiFi at all. If the device is online, just work.
(btw. my cellular is NOT "metered")

It almost looks like Mojang/Microsoft is not aware of the existence of existence of cellular dongle or that some PCs embarks 4G or 5G modems...

Event though Microsoft included the support of such hardware in Windows, there is even : a setting to set it to metered for the case it should be used the less possible.

I tried to comment this ticket [MCPE-55405] Get "You must be connected to wifi to play with your friends". - Jira (mojang.com) maybe they will re-open it to fix it.

@Skaijie I tried to install your mod on a new PC but it does not make the toggle appear anymore, but on my previous PC it still worked. Because it was only with the new install, and that it worked until my last PC has been made redundant, I can't tell from which version this appeared.

I have seen that, at least in the french GUI, the menu has been renamed "account" instead of "profile" maybe it is a lead.

I've attached an updated version of the resource pack. Please check if it works for you. The toggle should be under Settings > General.
