I'm unable to play multiplayer at all using cellular data after the 1.16.100 update. No realms no servers no nothing. This is so critical and need fixing... 

This is soo major it really needs to be fixed 

Im experiencing it now i already reboot my phone, clear cache of mc and also sign out/in my account still cant connect in any realm or server. I regret that i updated to the lastest version. 

This is a huge and serious problem as most players worldwide play only through cellular data (including me). We don't have access to broadband or wifi connection in our area and cellular data is the only option. Since the beginning you didn't allowed players to host worlds with cellular data even when 'use cellular data' was turned on in the profile settings. And now you are not even allowing us to join any multiplayer games (realms, friends and servers) with cellular data. Such a big shame! You even released 1.16.100 final version without fixing this issue. How can you ignore this issue? I request you all to fix this issue and also allow us to host worlds with cellular data and release the fixed version as soon as possible. I hope you all will not ignore us this time.

I agree with @Aditya Singh you can't ignore this and you really need to focus on it, like this LITERALLY needs to be your only priority right now, so many people literally can't play the game, releasing a hotfix tommorow will already be too long for something like this, this isn't some every day bug you can shrug off, the game is literally not playable and nothing is being done about it, please hear us out. 

 I am an over the road trucker, and I never have access to wifi. I pay for realms and can not get in my realm because of this issue. How much of a priority is this, and when can a fix be expected?

I am so disappointed that there was no warning about this update. Not only can I not play with cellular data anymore, now I can't even play with wifi due to the realms needing 48 hrs to update? =( 

If you attempt join an outdated (1.16.50) Realms server it will update to 1.16.100 when no one has been on the server for a while, so it may take at least few minutes instead of 48 hours.

Given the large increase in reported issues (please don't create a new issue!) it is highly likely that the Mojang staff will prioritise this highly and push a fix as soon as possible.

Can we please have an update on this? Mods, anyone?

I use this to play games with my children who are all over i dont have access to wifi most of the time so please fix this i just tried again and its still not fixed

Issue is still happening as of 7:38am Nov 18, 2020, can provide evidence. 

Y’know after 30+ duplicate reports they would think something is up and this is probably something completely different than what this bug report was actually meant for

Like for real, especially as people are waking up to the update. I was one of the unfortunate to get it immediately.

On the Google play store minecraft has already dropped from a 4.7 rating to a 4.6

My brother, his friend, and I purchased Minecraft android recently. We did not expect this kind of lame bug 😞. please fix asap. It absolutely makes the game unplayable for many of us. Thank you

Please fix this its really annoying I dosen't have wifi so I turn on cellular data option from settings>profile>cellular data after turning on you can play with friends with your mobile data but after this 1.16.100 update I can't play I Enabled cellular data option but it's still saying YOU MUST CONNECT WITH WIFI TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS! Please fix this Thank You.

Changed my Google play rating to 1 star until I can play my game with my friends again. 

Seriously this is the only way I play the game (over data) and yall broke it. 

Been freaking out for 2 days now since I can't do my hyperfixation its affecting mental health and I'm sure there's parent out there with kids trying to play on realms THAT THEIR PARENTS PAY FOR. 

What barret said is very true to me as well, this has been my hyper fixation recently and the fact that I'm ripped away from it while out and about is driving me crazy and I've only been dealing with this for a few hours, I am a little humbled honestly, it could be worse for me. Although having to spend a few hundred to get a new laptop just to be able to play this game again is a little more than frustrating. Definitely not expected and it's going to be hard to get one sooner than later. 

Same thing😞 . Now I play on the release of Minecraft 1.16.100.04 (i.e. not in the beta) and still there is such a mistake. It's impossible to play with a friend with a cell phone, but I don't have Wi-Fi. 

Whoa, new update kinda broke my mood, everybody doesn't always use wifi to play, I own realms and this is serious problem... :/ please fix ASAP, wouldn't continue my realm subs if not~

It broke my mood as well. My mouse recently broke and my internet started acting up and cellular was really my only way to play with friends. I really hope they take attention to this because this is absolutely ridiculous. 

It's been 24 hrs with no fix...

I have the same problem, however, in the official version (not the beta) 1.16.100.04, updated yesterday. but they didn't accept my ticket and directed me to that post, where they talk about the beta version 1.16.100.60. I hope you solve it soon. if not, I will have to use the previous version, only a pirate. I bought the original already to not have these problems.

If you re-enter your realm code (in join realm) it will work you can play with cellular data.   But you need to enter code every time to get in.    And you should try entering 2. 3 Times(for entering once).   It worked for me.     Try it

Just updated and now I cannot connect to friends bedrock dedicated server. Keeps saying that I must be on wifi to play with friends. Changing the cellular data switch in profile does nothing.

That is happening to me too

Cannot connect via cellular data, no matter if i have the  "Use cellular data" switch toggled or not.

Just updated the game to current version now I can't play with friends at all loving this patch!

Really not happy that I had to update to a version that bugged out all my villagers and made me unable to play outside of the house. I just renewed my Realm and I can't access it. Money down the drain

Me too, I have allowed cellular data and everything yet it still says “You must be connected to WiFi to play with friends”.

I've been playing realms for a few months with my cellular data. I play it all work with other members.  Updated last night and now today I can't get on at all. I can't use mobile data, and can't use hotspot because my tablet lags so bad its unbearable.

When I played on 1.16.40 version, all is was good. But new 1.16.100 version ask me to connect to Wi-Fi, but special option for cellular data was enabled. And now I losing my paid days of Realm 

There is a workaround that let's you join realms, if you type in the realm code every time you can actually join, hope it helps out, still nothing when it comes to severs and multiplayer worlds though. 

Same problem here, i updated the game yesterday and I'm unable to play in the realm I PAID and in all the multiplayer server!

I even got personal sever that I PAID too and I'm unable to access in. They should fix this as soon as possible, 'cause when i PAY something I want it to work perfectly. I don't have a WiFi and I have always played the game using my cellular data and now it is not possible anymore? Are you kidding me?!

I run two realms and this issue is ridiculous, I'm just as mad as everyone here. I pay for the realms and can't even access them. The worst part is that I can't even access them to reset the realm. The update messed up a great deal of things on one of my realms 😞

I manage 1 realm which I cannot enjoy because I use mobile data to play, but this error is hurting me, please Mojang people, solve this problem as soon as possible, it asks me to be connected to wifi, when I have the option to give you mobile

Just going to point out that mobile data is restricted by the ISP's own NAT.

While it may be unrelated to this bug, I might as well note that Android, even while on Wi-Fi, does not get or properly send, normal world invites (Realm invites work just fine). While on a working Wi-Fi on a proper NAT, I can properly join & host, but it requires the hosting world (me or the other) to be "Friends Only" / "Friend of Friends" and a proper friendship link between me and the host (direct friend / direct friend of a friend of the host)

Same thing for me, but you can access to your Realms anyway with its link (it is available in the detail of the Realms).
E.g.: 
https://realms.gg/goWvXidp9xk (Fake realms here, but you get it 😉)
It will redirect you to Minecraft app and then automatically to the corresponding Realms.

I'm a realm admin and I created a rule saying u must be very active but I haven't been able join since the update release. I miss my realms😔

Game is not playable with my friends

I have a temporary fix to join servers.

Remove the server you want to play from the server tab and add the ip and port once again but don't save it. Just tap play.

You have to do it every time you want to play inthe server

Nb: Featured servers won't work this way.

MORE INFORMATION: If I switch to mobile data after joining the realm while on WIFI, it will work.

STEPS:
I connect to WIFI
I join the realm and wait until I join it fully
I then turn off WIFI
My phone switches over to using mobile data but I remained connected to the realm in minecraft. I can continue to play in the realm.

@shawn not only does it not work but it's also not very helpful to people who don't have access to Wi-Fi at all

Same problem 😞, but I’ve already said that realms’ links are still working (like https://realms.gg/xXXxXXxxx1xX), even in cellular mode (on iPhone at least). It is very simple and easy 🙂.

Just hope they find a fix for featured servers

Using the workaround (manually typing in the server information) you can join featured servers. 

Find the information for your favorite featured server on one of the many server finding sites then add it and press play. It worked for me and the Mineplex server.

Using the workaround is okay but what about those who wanna play with friends with cellular data?

some servers don’t work for me I use cubecraft ip and everything it still doesn’t work you have to fix the problem

Is the ip offline because the server is up right now I just join it with my slow WiFi 

Another workaround may be to transfer your SIM card onto another mobile device, and use that device as a WiFi hotspot. Understandably this may not be possible for many people.

But is the workaround only aplies on servers and not multiplayer? I am playing on Android and I can't host a world where me and my friends played anymore because my friends only uses mobile data. When i try it myself I can't connect to server's or realm either. I'm sorry for any inconvenience

This bug is fixed in the latest hotfix 1.16.101. We will leave this ticket open as a point of reference until the fix has been fully released to all applicable platforms.

The 1.16.101 still hasn't fixed the issue to connect to Relams via Cellular or WiFi 

Don't fix anything same problem, can't connect with cellular in both, realm and friend world.

This has fixed my problem to join server. Thank you Minecraft devs for the hotfix. I'm gonna revert playstore rating to 5* right now.
