When i go through a nether portal from the over world it either won't generate a portal if there isn't one and I fall towards the lava lake below me, or it brings me through the portal but I spawn in the nether below the portal and fall. Old portals seem to be working unless they are in a area that was reset for the update and have to be regenerated in the nether, but haven't tested them all yet.
