In 1.16.1, I tried playing with an Xbox controller on my ipad mini 5th generation (iPadOS 13.5) and found the jump botton doesn't function in game (I cannot jump with it but the button does work on the main menu and in-game inventory for selecting items). Today I found that Minecraft has been updated to 1.16.10 and tried my controller again but it still did not work.* I tried the controller on an 10.5 inch iPad pro (iPadOS 13.5) and it works normally.* Later I upgrade my iPad mini to iPadOS 13.6 but I still can't jump with the controller. I also tried rebooting my ipad mini and swapping A/B buttons but neither worked out.
In conclusion, I tried
update the game
update system
reboot system
swap buttons
but none of these solved the problem that I can't use jump button in-game with a controller on my iPad mini.

try these things:
try another xbox controller.
use the same xbox controller, but on a different game.
replace the batteries.
I only have one controller and it works perfectly on other devices, so it's not very possible that it is a controller issue.
The controller also works normally in other games on the same ipad device.
I already tried replacing batteries but did not work.
I speculate that it might be a software compatibility issue, since only the jump (and flying in creative) function doesn't work with a controller, touching screen works fine too.
I only have one controller and it works perfectly on other devices, so it's not very possible that it is a controller issue.
The controller also works normally in other games on the same ipad device.
I already tried replacing batteries but did not work.
