Ever since the 1.16.2 update was released, whenever I close Minecraft to get off my switch or simply play another game, my switch freezes. This doesn’t happen when I close any other games and as I said, it didn’t start until the most recent update, so I’m fairly certain it’s not an issue with my switch.. It’s really annoying to restart my entire console each time I want to get off my switch

same here it does freeze the console when closed but for a few minutes, and when i'm automatically logged out to my microsoft account (because of crappy wifi range) and closed the game it doesn't freeze so in the mean time if you don't want your switch to freeze and just want to play the game then i suggest you log out your microsoft account (plus whenever i get logged out, i have to sign in my account all over again! so in my opinion i'd rather have my switch frozen for a few minutes than me signing in my account all over again)

I have the exact same problem. My Switch has no hardware or software problems, it is connected to the internet, and this does not happen to any other games. Trying to close Minecraft after the latest update completely freezes the switch for an extremely long time. The power button does not do anything, so I am forced to wait until it stops.
