Breaking blocks in survival instantly

Ok thanks for clearing it I wasn't sure you guys knew this was 2 bugs 🙂

Had this bug a few times on my 'survival only' map. Blocks can occasionally be broken instantly by hand or any tool, including obsidian*. The blocks don't drop like a normal block, but disappear (like in creative). (*Obsidian should only break and drop when mined with diamond pick in survival). Playing 0.12.1 on MCW10E and have LAN players join via android devices.

I am also able to reproduce the break instantly bug on win 10. Hold left mouse button pointing at air wait a few seconds move over any other block and it breaks.

Has anyone been able to break bedrock this way?

Both bugs reproducable on iOS 8.3 iPhone 5 MCPE 0.12.1 alpha

I'm trying to sort this one out, and I think they might be the same bug. For the first bug (instant break) it seems to me that the break isn't "instant" for all blocks. I am totally guessing based on my observations, but I think that the tap and hold on the sky builds up some "breaking time" even though the focus circle is not filling up as you would normally observe when breaking a block. When you then move the focus from the sky onto a block that "breaking time" is not reset to zero. Thus, if that particular block should have broken at a lower threshold than the already stored up "breaking time", it breaks instantly. But if not, then the focus circle instantly fills with that stored up "breaking time" and you can continue to mine for the remainder. Thus speeding up the breaking time for some blocks. I conclude this because I tested breaking different blocks and had a much higher success rate "instantly" breaking blocks like dirt and tree than obsidian. I tried to look under my finger to see how full the focus circle was when I started mining obsidian directly and when I started it from focusing on the sky. It appeared that focusing on the sky then on the obsidian blocks (when done right) starts with a partially filled focus circle while starting right on the obsidian does not. I tried focusing on the sky for longer periods of time but this did not seem to affect how full the focus circle was. There's definitely something that affects how full the focus circle starts, because I've observed different fill sizes when moving from sky to obsidian, but to me it's not the time duration of press and hold on the sky.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong... All different blocks (except bedrock) seem to break instantly using this method MCPE-9974

I agree it's as if it stores the 'breaking time' in some way. It's odd how sometimes when the block gets broken it doesn't drop a block though, as if in creative.

I think whether or not the block gets dropped is independent of this bug. It depends on what tool you had in hand at the time it broke and if the tool would have caused that block to drop when mined normally, then you get the block, otherwise you do not.
