Joinable friends not showing up on friends tab

Joinable friends won't show up on my friends tab. I play on PC and my friend plays on PS4. We both have  each other as friends on Microsoft (obviously). He has all the multiplayer settings set to "friends of friends". but when he loads his world, it does not show up on my friends tab.  He has to restart several times for me to see. Also when he invites me to his world I receive no notification what so ever (checked on xbox app everytime).

Every time  I leave his world it just disappears from my friends tab.

Your friend probably has his "appear online" setting on Xbox Online turned off. If he doesn't appear online to you, or if his internet access is very slow, you won't be able to see when he's playing and his invitations to you may be blocked. Note that the Friends setting for Multiplayer should be enough since you're friends there; the Friends of Friends setting is overkill and can be more risky.

Problems like this should be discussed with Community Support first. You shouldn't report them as a bug unless you've eliminated all other possibilities, because if it's not actually a bug you'll wait a long time for a fix that might never come, when you might have gotten a solution from Community Support in a matter of minutes.

I have the exact same problem when I leave my friends world it doesn't show up until they reset the world and I cant find a solution his status is online because I saw it before I left his world I tried on PS4 and mobile but they didn't have this issue only on windows 10.

My child has the same problem with his Microsoft Win 10 / Bedrock.
I have tried everything regarding his microsoft account and XBOX account.
Its just not working. None of the friends of his showing in the XBOX app, appears
in Minecraft. There is none online, none playing... although I can see there is in the app.

Is this still an issue in the latest version? If so, can you add it to the affected versions?

Yes, this issue also affected me when I used a world from Bedrock Dedicated Server running on an older Minecraft Bedrock version. By default Multiplayer is disabled, so I enabled it. However, multiplayer does not work even though I've enabled it and set the visibility to Friends of Friends.

This is currently happening to me and two sons. We cannot join one another as our friends list is appearing empty even though we are all online, no one is hiding, etc. and This is on the Windows 10 xbox/pc

I am currently still having this issue. I'm on pc and both of my friends are ps4.

My kids and I are having this issue.  We have a world on an Xbox One and my kids join via their tablets, as this helps with lag and we don't have to play with the split screen.  Since the latest update, 1.20.51 we have started having issues.  On the Xbox, I cannot see them as friends in the Minecraft game menu (although I do see them as online in the Xbox menu).  They can see my world briefly and then it goes away.  We've figured out that they can join the world if they do so while the world is loading on the xbox.  If they don't join right away, or if they get out of the world, it does not show up for them to join again.  I also play on a tablet and we have no problems seeing each other or joining worlds from tablet to tablet.  For us, it  is only a problem of Xbox to tablet and vice versa.

This issue is not resolved. I've been sent back here by customer support to find help. My issue is the same as everyone else. I can't seem to find the other forums anymore, but this has been a problem for years. I'm on the Switch.

Here's everything I've already done to try to fix the problem:
1. Logged out of the account before uninstalling the game from my console. Restarted the system before reinstalling the game and logging in.
2. Cleared all game cache data before relaunching and logging in.
3. Logged into the same account using a different console (cell phone).
4. Changed Internet IP settings on the Switch console before relaunching the game.
5. Changed locations to a different house's router that I used in the past with no issue
6. Reset my house router.
None of these attempts have solved my problem.

If I think back, I believe I started having the issue a little while after the cherry blossom update released on the switch. Friends aren't appearing online, realms are inaccessible even as the host who has been paying for it - and invitations do not appear because I don't appear online. If I want to join other friends for a game, the only way to do it is to manually key in the invite code every time.
I get prompted to start a realms subscription despite having been paying for one for the last 6 months. We took a hiatus from our game and I thought I cancelled the subscription. When I lost access to the servers, I just figured it was because of the subscription expiring after the cancellation.
Contacted customer support after getting suggested to from this forum and they sent back here 🙂
I'm sure you can imagine how happy I am about all of this runaround.
