Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

This still happens in version 0.6.1

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini as of version 0.7.3

Cleaning up all the old issues - please reply if this affects 0.9.3.
