When adding a addon to a realm, the Texture Changes to the SONIC DLC

Major Note: I do not own the sonic resource pack or somehow have it downloaded
Major Update: I have discovered that the Geometry fix resource pack (here https://github.com/Arexon/geometry-fix) was the cause which removes the recently added block geometry limitations from the recent Minecraft bedrock update by using the same manifest UUID of the sonic resource pack as apparently, the sonic uuid has special properties that remove the geometry limits because the sonic pack has bigger blocks than the limitations.

While using this addon on a single player world it does not add the sonic resource pack, while it does for realm worlds if you add another resource pack or texture pack after that pack. I guess the real bug is that you probably can use this method to have any marketplace resource pack on your realm for free, so patch that and probably allow modders to disable the Block limitations if they need it for their furniture mods so they wouldn't have to try to circumvent it.

Old report:
Original Discovery:
When I added an addon to my realm (Not a Cause "True Undeads" by TrueCowboy) that my friends and I play on it for some reason made me download a 16.7 MB texture pack, and now it appears the sonic texture pack is added to my realm permanently, I have tried to go to the settings of the realm to remove it the texture pack and it is not there.

The only way to avoid this issue temporarily is to go into storage and delete the Miscellaneous file which is the sonic texture pack and not download the resource packs when you join. Others have stated the same issue on Reddit on the realms and MCPE subreddit.

r/realms Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/realms/comments/syhobb/sonic_texture_pack_bug/

Update: I fixed this by disabling everything (addons and resource packs) on the realm, which allowed me to delete the realm as it locked me from doing anything for some unknown reason. After I reimport the world (Had a local backup, Realm backups don't seem to work to remove the sonic resource pack), I tested this again by using a resource pack to see if this happens to resource packs as well. I tested this by adding "Brewing Guide UI" by By CrisXolt to the realm, and it added the sonic texture pack again

What exact add-on (name and creator) did you add to the realm?

If you know of other cases of this happening (reddit report) please provide a link to that.

I don't know how to rename this due to the circumstances, so change this to whatever you want moderator, well if you can but if you cannot just tell me what to rename it to.

I as well as anyone trying to use an addon that needs https://github.com/arexon/geometry-fix to fix this ridiculous 16x16x16 single block limitation is still having this problem. The marketplace is allowed to do just about anything they want where as free add-ons get limitations. I can't even transfer the Geometry-fix resource pack to my Xbox. Realms just delete it automatically when trying to transfer over to the console. Just read the comments on these addons and you will see it's a major issue for many people.  https://mcpedl.com/medieval-furniture-addon/  https://mcpedl.com/furnideco-addon/

This happens to me too. If I add any geometry fix for the modded blocks, it turns into the sonic pack. It’s not just one geometry fox resource pack, it’s all of them that I put on the realm. Someone please fix this, I just want furniture…

I have also suddenly just encountered this issue today April 11, 2023, when trying to add the Chroma Hills texture pack to my realm, but not the sonic pack, I got a pack called "Bee Parkour" which turns everything into honeycomb texture... it's awful and scared the heck out of me because I thought I'd broken my realm for a second lol.

The reason I wanted to upload the textures straight to the realm was that my friends and I are a little tired of having to manually load our texture list every time we boot up the game. Would be lovely if perhaps Mojang got a dedicated bug hunter team to have a look over Realms and start patching out these silly but very inconvenient little issues that plague the Realms experience... we do after all pay money for this and it's super frustrating at best and absolutely game-breaking at worst. 😞

Hi

Have you tried adding Chroma Hills more times? Did it occur every time?

I have an update regarding this bug, turns out it wasn't a marketplace texture pack at fault after all like I first believed so no, Chroma Hills wasn't the issue in this instance.

I actually have a self-made pack which got loaded too, isn't really a texture pack more of just a colour overlay which for some reason triggered this when loaded, it's a tiny file 167kb and the only thing it contains is a gradient map of the grass to make it more vibrant and greener, also the Birch trees are recoloured pink (our way of getting cherry blossom trees before 1.20).

That's the entire function of my "texture pack" it contains absolutely nothing else extra and should happily sit on top of the texture stack as it does in the regular texture folder and simply enhance the colours of any other pack under it... so why on earth would it cause a texture pack I don't even own to load on top of the stack and cause utter chaos??? Any thoughts?

If you are having this issue, please determine exactly which pack also results in the SONIC DLC being added. We can't do this for you, because we do not have access to your realm or packs. You can try this with a new world if one of the realm slots is not currently being used.
The pack that causes the issue should be the only one in use when you reproduce the issue.

1. If the pack was created by you, please try generating (not copying) new UUID values for all of the UUIDs in the pack including in any "manifests" and see if that fixes the issue.

2. If the pack was downloaded from a non-Marketplace site (such as mcpedl), either ask the author to generate new UUIDs, or do that yourself for your local copy.

3. If the pack was from the Marketplace, please provide the exact name and creator of the pack.
