Character Reset

The morning the Auquatic update rolled out, after the update, I logged into the Better Together realm on my iPhone to check that the updated water wasn't effecting my mob grinders. It was of course but no matter, I logged out so I could switch to my Xbox one and fix the issues on a larger screen. When I logged back in about three hours later after breakfast I spawned at the world spawn instead of near my bed where I had been and all my loot, gear, and equipment, Ender Chest included, was gone. I haven't been able to fix the issue by logging out and back in on either mobile or concole and have had to start over. I lost nearly a stack of diamond blocks, about a half stack of emeralds, two sets of heavily enchanted diamond armor, weapons, and other tools, several enchanted books, a level 3/4 locator map of my area, several stacks of torches and jack-o'-lanterns, several minecarts, chests, and a crafting table. Probably other things I'm forgetting as well.

This happens to my friends and I too on our iPhones, Xbox One s, and Switch. This started happening after the 1.5.1 update. We've been unloading our equipment and inventory before logging out in case our character resets. When it does happen, we lose all enchantment points and it sets us at our world's original spawn point. Very annoying. This needs to get fixed.

Is there any update on this issue? Had this occur a few times over the weekend - very frustrating...

We're actually already tracking this issue at MCPE-55815, so I will resolve and link this ticket as a duplicate.

We are still looking into the issue with player data changing or being lost at MCPE-55815.

If the issue is still occurring for you in the latest version (currently 1.16.1) please could you add any steps to reproduce the issue at MCPE-55815.

Also, if you have a copy of the world save available, you might like to share a copy of it for investigation.

  • On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.

  • On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds

  • On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS. (Please do not purchase a Realms subscription just to provide a world to us - but if you have a Realm already this may be a viable option if you wish to do so.)

If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link in a comment at the main bug ticket at MCPE-55815.
