This is the nearly the same issue as MC-133063 which was fixed in Minecraft 1.13-pre7, but now resurfaces in REALMS
I just got this on both of my Macs. I'm very curious how it works though. Despite re-installing minecraft, updating java, restarting, and also re-downloading the latest version 1.13, the error persists.
Makes no sense in my mind – where does the error occur, since other people still can join and play?
This exact issue is occurring whilst trying to connect to our realm. We just renewed our subscription yesterday and having a paid service be unusable is upsetting.
having this issue on both of my macs running 10.13.6
updated java
here is 15 logs in a zip
Also having this issue since last night.
Same issue here, attached some logs as well.
Same issue going on with my Minecraft. Started last night as well.
I certainly hope those holding subscriptions are going to be reimbursed for the days without service.
Is this even on their radar or being worked on? Would be nice to have some sort of response.
@unknown, @unknown, since there wasn't any Minecraft update the last days, it may be likely that there was an OS update. Can you please check this?
The problem went away for us yesterday evening. Now everyone seems to be able to login again.
@Kumasasa I did have a Windows update the same day the problem started.
@kumasasa I run macOS no updates done on either of my computer
same
i had the same problem but it seemed to resolve overnight but at 17:48 the next day the same crash occured.
Thank you for the crash report, very useful for us.
Judging from the stacktraces you provided, this crash seemingly happens when you are having network problems. When Realms cannot lookup the hostname for the server, it crashes like this. So if this happens, try to verify that your network is working properly. No network problems -> no crash, as far as I can tell from your reports.
Of course, the crash shouldn't happen, and the fix is scheduled for 1.13.1, so hang in there.
So what we're getting is a network problem, that means everyone here has a network issue, I find that highly unlikely... Considering it's not just one or two people getting this problem. You can't even backup the files and restarting will reset everything. Isn't this an issue that should be solved quickly instead of waiting for an update? If so then we might as well had use a 3rd party server instead of minecraft's realms since we're just gonna wait. Just think about it, how can every have a network issue all at the same time, even with coincidence it's highly unlikely.
Yesterday me and everyone else on my Realms had issues somewhat similar to this. I resolved it by switching the active world to a different one, and then switching back again.
@John Do you have the same stack trace? I'm focusing on the crash which mentions "DisconnectedRealmsScreen". This crash is due to DNS resolve issues or other network issues when you try to join a Realm server. I could reproduce this while joining. What are your reproduction steps?
Also, this crash unfortunately cannot be reliably fixed without updating the client. Of course we want to ensure that you are able to play on your realm, so if this is turns out to be a real showstopper we will prioritise it accordingly.
It is also entirely possible that people are having DNS issues, and that this crash is masking those problems. DNS issues can be anywhere on the network, so if anyone who is having this problem with the skills to trace the DNS resolves, please post if you find anything.
@Alexander Torstling,
Based on your statement that the error is caused by a DNS issue, it suggests the issue was with YOUR realms servers. When MULTIPLE people on MULTIPLE OS in MULTIPLE countries using MULTIPLE internet providers are having issues connecting to ONE service.
What my mind as a professional technical support agent tells me the common item is the issue. That is trouble shooting at it's most basic level.
I agree that this crash shouldn't be happening, thats why we report these bugs.
i'm sorry if my comment may seem a bit gruff but your statement that "DNS issues can be anywhere on the network" just feels like you are trying to pass blame on what is the common point of the failure.
Everyone in our realm was not able to connect at almost the exact same time then ,now that is it working again, we can connect. This suggests there was an issue with your servers (based on the the program log crashed with, servers provided through amazon).
Here is one thing I found interesting, if you try the same IP it says it can't connect to in realms and it crashes, I put that ip in the add server window and try to connect I got the error it can't connected but then go to try to connect to realms it give the same error but doesn't crash. I tested this a few times. it looks like the error handling code was only loaded when trying to connect to a multiplayer non-realms server.
thats just my two cents.
I’m not saying this will work for everyone, but closing our realm and reopening it resolved the issue. A simple matter of turning it off and back on again.
How did you guys get to connect back? Still crashing even after one day, having problem downloading the latest backup too, I don't wanna risk losing everything. There's this bug where you would see one person online as well. I don't know if that helps :/ You try to connect boom, instead crash and back to the launcher.
I got kicked from our realm server the other day, and i can't get back in. The "funny" thing is, that my profile is still online on our realm.
I can't do anything in the realm menu - switch, close world, download backup or start a mini game - NOTHING WORKS 😞
We are 3 people playing atm, and none of us can get in the realm. We all end up at the launcher after trying to join the realm server.
@Alexander Torstling,
My friend and I were both kicked from the server at the same time and we are on different providers. Its been 2 days now and we still can't connect, it crashes everytime we try join the realm and sends us back to the launcher. He payed for the server the day before this started. Its very disappointing that we just got the server and now we have to wait for the next update to use it.
@Tristen Coronado
I can't do anything with our realm server... So that's not a option for me sadly.
@Leigh has your friend tried to activate a different world (from the realms settings), and then switch back?
I have the same problem as well. I could connect to the realms server yesterday but crashes when I try to connect today. My crash report:
My friend had this problem yesterday but can connect normally today, probably because of a restart. (Not sure about that as none of us is the owner) My friend's crash report:
And now the crashing returned for all of us – both mac and windows users.
@Jesse Kint I was simply trying to agree with @John that my analysis might not be 100% correct, that DNS issues might be the underlying issue, and that any info on DNS issues from the client side would help. I was not trying to imply that DNS issues are the fault of the users.
I understand your frustration, but let's keep it civil. Surprise, you guys probably know more about this issue than I do, since I haven't experienced it first hand. I'm simply trying to interact with you people to get more information. Given the info you provide in your post (disregarding some portions of it), I realize this might also happen when the server is stuck (edited). So that's good. We'll investigate further. But as far as this crashing bug goes, the specific crash will be addressed in 1.13.1 .
Do you wish to have more Java crash reports posted?
@PappaDavid If the crash report contains the `DisconnectedRealmsScreen` I think we have enough. But I would love to hear if you noticed the server crashing just before this started happening, or anything else which happened up until the point of the problem starting to appear.
Attached the crash report just now, but maybe a log would be helpful too. I'm not familiar with tech so maybe it's actually useless.
Unfortunately I can't find any related events in connection to the crash. First time it was during gameplay. And equally unrelated, it started working again later, only to be once again unwilling to let anyone on.
Since the first crash the player online list states that one particular player to be online, regardless of how many or who was logged onto the server.
And as mentioned previously, both mac and windows users are affected, and for us on all realms we try to connect to.
@PappaDavid: Thank you. That's valuable information. The fact that the server is stuck thinking that one player is online will prevent Realms from shutting down that server, leaving it open until the next maintenence shutdown. We've seen this problem on occational servers lately. Also the fact that it affects multiple platforms equally is useful.
@deadfish12 your log is also very useful, thank you. Here we can see that it's actually a gameserver connect issue, not a DNS issue.
Yes, I tried to shut it down but nothing happens.
@Alexander Torstling
I got kicked from our realm server the other day, and i can't get back in. The "funny" thing is, that my profile is still online on our realm.
@Jonas Gamby thanks. I will try to get in contact with one of you who has their realm stuck in this way (one ghost player remaining), so we can have a look at exactly what is going on.
@AlexanderTorstling So far, both on my computer and the family computer, are having the same problems as @JonasGamby: "I got kicked from our realm server the other day, and i can't get back in. The "funny" thing is, that my profile is still online on our realm.
I can't do anything in the realm menu - switch, close world, download backup or start a mini game - NOTHING WORKS 😞
We are 3 people playing atm, and none of us can get in the realm. We all end up at the launcher after trying to join the realm server."
I cannot close the realm, backup any saves, switch worlds, or reset the world. The realms crashes for other players when they join the realm.
@AlexanderTorstling Was kicked from my friend's realm once the other night, and now again last night. Still have two people "logged on" to the server, but every time anyone tries to load the realm we immediately crash. "sucks that something that is paid doesn't work as of now"
@Alexander Torstling,
our server says that 1 person is logged on, its saying my friends name now but sometimes it says "null". not his name and not my name so idk. my friend tried to switch the worlds and all that but nothing worked. i use to run a realm server and the last backup was 1075 days ago and i was able to download the backup but my friend couldnt download the backup on this new server that is having issues.
@Matthew Ziegler, @Alexander Torstling,
I also Had a windows Update the night I last played on my realm, on 14 Aug 18 around 2300.
I was kicked from the realm shortly before the software update. That is when I decided to call It a night and let my computer update and shut down, I did not think much of it until now.
I cannot make changes to my realm, IE: Switch world, close realm, download backup, ect.
No indication anyone is still joined in, my friends confirm they cannot join, as our games crash when we attempt to join the realm. A very brief "failed to connect to server" message flashes before the crash. If I attempt to join in the latest 1.13.1-pre1 snapshot it reads "io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$annotatedConnectException: Connection refused: no further information: ".
My crash logs are very similar if not identical to the ones I have seen on this site for similar issues.
Steps I took to remedy were in the following order:
-Replicate crash with exact actions.
-Succesfully Log into regular server (Play.wynncraft.com).
-Attempt to make changes to realm; Switch world, download back up, close realm. Of which attempting any results in a waiting loop (quit after half an hour).
-Research online for similar issues in and after I suspect the issue arose.
-Ensure several drivers are up to date (OS, video card).
-Updated Java to version 8 Update 181 (build 1.8.0_181-b13).
-Replicate crash dozen more times.
No success in my issue.
@AlexanderTorstling Instead of making us wait until the "next maintenance shutdown", is there not a way for the realms to be restarted manually now? Our realm has the same problem listed above. It says a player is online although they are not and if you try to get on the realm the game crashes. I was however able to get on a different realm with no problems.
@KarmaKix Realm owner could try switching the active world and then swap back again. See https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/articles/2469683#slot
The realm I was playing on is no longer giving me or anyone else on the realm an issue, but for what it's worth to answer one of the mods earlier in the thread, I did not have a Windows update the day mine crashed.
Nobody in my realm is able to join anymore. Crashlog:
Have had this twice in a 24 hour period. First time I was able to switch worlds to slot one and then back to the slot I was using (two) and carried on playing with my friend as normal. Second time, nearly a day later, I can no longer switch worlds. Therefore, me and my friend are unable to join as described above. (It indicates that "someone" is "online" within the world from the Realms screen, as I'm sure other people have also mentioned)
The realm owner was unable to switch to a different world.
Hey everyone. We're still working on the issue, with some progress. If you are still experiencing this problem, please contact support so we can check your realm specifically. Since the crash happens with in any type of connection problems, we could be dealing with different types of problems here. So please ping support and we'll take it from there.
I've just checked and the game is still crashing. How do we contact support specifically to try and resolve this issue?
Upon mailing Mojang support, the status is now "We're currently replying to cases received on August 4.", so…
Ah, bummer. Sorry about that. Well, if you're comfortable sharing your realm name publically, you may add your realm name here and I'll se what we can do (no promises): https://codeshare.io/GLypMV

Thanks @Jonas Gamby . Fingers crossed a solution can be found quickly!
I've got my fingers crossed for 3 days now ... 😛 But yeah, just glad I'm not alone with this problem.
Right now, i just tried closing my Realm again, and this time i got a error message instead of it just "loading". 😃 And then i tried to join my Realm - I then got a error code, closed Minecraft - started it up again... But still no luck joining my Realm, and it appears that I'm still ghosting my own Realm.
But now there's something happening, and not like before were nothing happened at all ...!
There is one more piece of information that might prove interesting in troubleshooting this issue.
We've had two crashes. It worked for a couple of days and then locked down again. Both times it's the same player that is remaining on the online player list, even though the server has no players.
On ours, two of us were on when it crashed originally and one was not. The two who were on see each other as still being logged in. The one who was offline sees both of us as still being logged in!
Realm has been broken for 24h now...
Realm still crashing well over 24 hours. Showing members online. 9 of us playing on this realm. From what i'm reading this will get fixed in the next update? when will that be?
We just managed to get our realm going again. I don't know whether it was because of Mojang doing it, or our actions. The player that was stuck on the online list, she removed the realm and then we reinvited her.
Now our realm is up and running again.
Looks like I'm back online! 😃
We’re back online too! Thanks to everyone for helping!
Online again
There was a new Realms library 1.3.4 rolled out, that fixed the issue.
How do i download that library? I can't seem to find it, I still have that problem 😞
Java version.
IGN: Gianfranco996

The issue for my realm is still unresolved. Immediately upon trying to load in, the game crashes. It still shows two users logged in, despite nobody being online or having access. It's been over 24 hours and we still have no solution.
@unknown, Close Minecraft and Launcher and restart. New Realms library will be downloaded automagically.
Can confirm @Corey Lahey, still locked out with identical crash. Showing 2 others logged in. When i attempt to log into the realm on another account it shows 2 others plus myself. Attempted to close and reopen game/launcher a few times. Still the same issue.
No change in status, game still crashes when I attempt to gently hop into my realm.
Edit: I went to my library and deleted 1.13 from my minecraft versions to force a download, Now able to connect, waiting on feedback from my friends.
Yup still having the same issue, game crashes when joining and showing others logged in when they aren't. Wrote my realm in the codeshare.io thingy an hour ago and still no fix. Tried to relaunch the game a couple of times but no difference...
I saw the launcher download 1.13.4. Realm still crashes whenever I log on
Realm up and running, thanks for the hard work
Similar to several individuals above, my realm also still crashes when trying to log in. I cannot switch worlds to fix the issue. I also cannot even seem to download a backup so I can use it offline/LAN. Submitted a crash log.
Just erased minecraft update and reinstalled latest update. Yet the realms server is still showing someone who isn't on the server anymore online. Can't connect without it crashing the game.
I too am still experiencing crashes. I have attached the log file.
Update, we got 2 hours of play before realm crashed and 3 of us crashed. Same issue as before, showing 3 users still online.
In Game Name {owner}: benbobs2000
Realm name: Rato
Server is still 'stuck', all players locked out. Will attach the log in a second.
Is there any way we can get reimbursed? We've been out for several days before I found this thread, I'm sure there are many more players frustrated and confused.
Thanks
Well, yesterday everyone on the realm was able to log in again and now it's crashing again, and this is after restarting the launcher and downloading the "fix."
Edit: I also just tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Did not help.
Sorry, I did not follow this topic. Crash does not happen when I press the realm button, but when I try to connect to the world. The problem was that the Russian Federal Communications Supervision Service (RoskomNazdor) had blocked 16 million addresses of Amazon trying to block access to the Telegram. In version 1.12.2 crash was not observed, it was just a message about the error in the game
my realms says there are 3 people online, it seems that when multiple people are online they "stay on" this might be the reason changing the world or opening and closing the realm helped, because it thinks we are online still. unfortunately in my realm changing the world or opening and closing does not work.
We seem to be back up and running. Thanks to all for that 🙂
I am experiencing the sm issue with my realm.. been 2 days cant log in. Will watch for resolution
Having same problem as everyone else, been over two days since realms has last worked. Very frustrating
Four days now with no realm. Still keeping fingers crossed, but only way to contact mojang support is through email where they’re still replying to emails from August 4th. Really wish there was someone I could call so that I could be sure that I will be getting reimbursed for all the days missed. At this point, the only reason I am still waiting for it to work is so that I can download the world my friends and I have spent countless hours on so that I can start my own server for free. No reason to use a paid service that might be down for weeks from time to time, especially when there is no customer service to help or explain what is going on.
I posted about this issue on this other report: REALMS-1205
Here's the error message my daughter received just now:
just wondering will we be reimbursed for the time it has been broken, as we all are paying for a service that has not been fulfilled, seem fair that we should be reimbursed.
Same bug happens in PC-1.13.4!
Same crash! Unable to connect or restart the server! Ghost players on the server!
Compensation for lost play time should more certainly be provided. If the shoe was on the other foot and someone didn't pay their sub, does anyone think Mojang would give them a pass and let them keep playing for free? I think not. Works both ways. Hope they fix this soon, or at least publish something to the community regarding timetable for a fix.
Frustration
This is absolutely ridiculous! It's extremely frustrating to put so many hours into something with a group of people to only have it not accessible by anyone. I could care less about the Realm itself, I just would like the world we put so much effort into! I do hope this gets resolved within a reasonable amount of time. There seems to be 6 ghost players online, and I can't even change game mode, maps, or close the Realm! I attached the error all of my friends are getting when we try to launch the Realm:
Same here
I have and have had the exact same issue, (yes multiple times) I used to be able to fix it by switching from the survival world we were using and then back but now I can't change from the world. (downloading world or switching all don't work) Myself and my realm are all really disappointed that we cant play. I'm hoping for a fix soon because this issue is taking up my free trial. Please fix this,
Thanks.

Fifth day without a realm. It would be nice if someone on this thread could tell us what is going on and when it may be fixed.
Hi, I started playing on that server few days ago. Now I'm having the same issue. Have you figured out how to fix this problem? Thanks
If there isn't an immidiate fix to the issue, it would be appreciated if can you could check the new entries on the list: https://codeshare.io/GLypMV and fix some realms.
This continues to be an issue. It's in your best interest to fix this immediately because as far as I can tell this is a widespread issue. At least 5 of my friends have tried connecting to our realm and they all get an identical crash as shown here.
There are more stable and cheaper methods of server hosting that give you far more control than realms, and this is coming up to the third day of this being an issue so I'll be seriously considering a service that can actually reliably host a service I'm paying for
This really needs to be fixed. As David B above said, this is a serious bug. 1.13 has had enough glitches (crashing realms, random server closes, no-clipping tridents, and countless other smaller ones), but this is a major one. Please fix this so we get the service that we pay for.
Please at least fix the part of the bug that makes it impossible to download our worlds. That's a lot of hours that a lot of people put in. Worst part of the bug honestly.
Same issue here. Different OS for a number of the players, and different networks. Realm crashes any of us that try to get on it.
Just got back online
Issue ongoing for me.
The only way to stop this issue for me currently is to revert the world back a day. It works for a while but then the issue comes back, which leads you in this sort of loop.
Can’t stop realm or do anything to change world.
We are having the issue on the realm I play on as well. Four of us were online and everyone crashed at the same moment. Now the realm shows three people online constantly, even though no one is online and all of us crash the moment we try to connect.
same issue on our realm, cant connect to it anymore
Same - going on five days now, Realm locks up. The Realms list still shows people logged in, but attempting to log in crashes the client. Realms eventually unlock/come back 12-24 hours later, but this is pretty unacceptable for a paid service.
Well over 24 hours here.
tried my realm, took a bit to load, but no error report and it finally let me log in. 5 days locked out really sucked mojang.
Realm STILL unusable, today is the fourth day. If the snapshot was meant to fix it, I get an error [but no crash] logging into the realm on that.
Would love to use the service I am paying for. At least if I could download my map I could start looking at other hosts.
@Alexander Torstling: Not sure if this helps but I was just able to connect to my realm after switching my map to a temporary one and then back again. I am now attempting to download the latest backup which I'm not sure is working as it has been stuck on 'Preparing Download' for a few mins now.
Hey everyone! I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We're now at a stage that we believe most people should have gotten unstuck. If not, please re-add yourself to https://codeshare.io/GLypMV, I'm restarting that list after this fix.
For everyone who was impacted, please start a support case so we get a chance to compensate you.
We will continue to closely monitor the issue in the upcoming days.
Server came back online for a few hours, got stuck again. Also, how do we start a support case?
Server came back online 2 minutes later. Yay!
Everything worked fine until approx. 8pm New York time yesterday. Then Realms started crashing. Cannot switch to mini games either. I added my latest error log to this task but it seems OS independent, I run High Sierra, my son has Win10. I tried to download the last backup but it never stops preparing the download.
Mine had been fixed, but it just crashed and locked us back out. Then it came back a few minutes later. We'll see how long this lasts...
I'm attaching the crash log.
Back up again for now (it's done this before)
Here's to hoping it stays up
Hello! The crash is fixed now. And most hangs as well. If you are still experiencing getting stuck in FIXING or constant crashing, start a support case or look through the other bugs. Thanks!
You've completely reseted my world!
@Vatroslav that shouldn't happen. Start a support case please so we can investigate.
Our realm was also completely reset. I will contact the Realm owner to ask her to start a support case.
Hi Melinda. Check the backups pane, that should have backups for your world. If that doesn't work, support is your next option.
The realm owner had tried to load backups last night and could not get it to work, but you will be glad to know that the realm has returned to its built up state and the people in the realm are, so far as we can tell, all where they were. Thank you, for whatever it was that changed.
Reopened, still an issue for some systems (see REALMS-1174)
