Severe Lag on realms post 1.13 launch

I am also getting post 1.13 lag, not fps drops per say, but i'll break a block, and it'll take 3 seconds to update and actually drop the item... singleplayer worlds work fine, unless i download the realms world, then it's the same thing. i even tried downloading realms world and optimizing it for 1.13, still the same thing though. this is really frustrating as me and my friends have put many hours into our world. 😞

I have never posted here before, but I am nearly unable to play on realms at all at this point.  Lag has gotten worse since the update and is worst when my computer is not on the best wifi or doing other things, but these have not been limitations in the past (to the point of getting timed out and kicked 5 times in 5 minutes).  As mentioned, elytra are not flyable and we’ve died do to severe rubberbanding/time out issues.  This is my main server, and I’d like to be able to play it.

idk about you guys, but 1.13.1 has cut the lag by about 75% for me, so i can at least fly and do the basics, unfortunately there is still some lag. at least it's somewhat playable now... :|

Edit: actually, lag is only cut about 50% for me, and i can just barely glide, can't fly due to excessive rubberbanding...

Every player on my realm is lagging, unplayable. Can't eat, break blocks, it even lags in single player when i download it.

Hey! I just want to say it's our top prio right now to fix this for everyone. We don't want people to be kicked because of perf issues, and we're trying to pin those down and nail them. What you say @young chung is interesting, are you suggesting that your realms world is laggy both on realms and after you download it, as opposed to a world which you generate in singleplayer?

@Christopher McElroy Are you able to fly elytra in singleplayer?

@Jansen any more detail? Can you start a support case, then we can jump in and see what's going on...

We've found some issues which we fixed now. Are things better? 

@Alexander yes i shall do that! also the small update seemed to help a tiny bit, but still having a little bit of lag. also, is this where i'm supposed to make a support case? https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/emails/new because everytime i go to hit send email, i get: Secure Connection Failed error...

Thank you for taking time to look into this. I just got back on after about a month but unfortunately all the problems I stated previously still exist.

Hey Carl. Thanks for checking back in. We're trying to nail these issues down, but unfortunately 1.13 changed the perf profile significantly, and we're not quite there yet. Chunk loading, flying fast and entering areas with mobs produces some high-latency ticks, which are more noticable on Realms, we're aware of that. We might have to wait until the next game release until we get it completely solved, but we still have a couple of tricks up our sleeves that we're going to try in the near future. 

During the past 6 months we have been working a lot of reducing performance issues on Realms. The experience should be a lot better for most players now.
