Realm world download always fails after 1.1 GB has been downloaded

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Try to download a world from a Realm

Expected result: World is fully downloaded locally.
Actual result: Download always fails a bit after the “Downloading World” screen changes to “1.1 GB”. A “World import started…“ toast is shown briefly on the top of the screen, and after a second a modal “An error occured“ appears. The world import process probably shouldn’t start when over half of the world hasn’t been downloaded.

Additional details (unsure how related, but here anyways):

  • Download always fails at 1.1 GB no matter where the download is started from (“Download World” button, or from Realm backup list).

  • Downloading an older Realm backup also fails (oldest we have is from 2025-05-26 with version 1.21.81.2)

  • Our world is currently 2.8 GB, we use 2 resource packs and 2 behavior packs.

  • Restarting Minecraft didn’t help.

  • Closing all other programs didn’t help.

  • Restarting Windows didn’t help.

This is a major issue as we cannot guarantee our forever-world is safe from possible data loss with Realms services.
