After attempting to Initialize the download of my realm backup it just says failed. The realm is 500mb + I backup once or twice a day. The other day I reverted to backup, then 5 minutes later reverted backup again. Maybe doing that in quick succession broke something?

My realms is failing to download too. It first began when my world grew to over 300MB it would fail twice then succeed. As the world grew it would fail more times before it would suceed. My last success is 385MB. I tried today and after several failures and no success so I'm adding to this bug report. I tried going from a Wi-Fi to my lan (AT&T fiber) and I tried emptying all other saved world except my last and it did not help. I'm on a laptop windows 10 MC version 1.1.5 and I am the realms owner.
Yep! i've got the same problem, my last realms world that downloaded successfully was 510mb, since then it just fails everytime
I am unable to download the Realm. (appx 1.9GB)
I am also unable to download the automatic backups, which are generated by the realm.
I need to do this. What is the status of this ticket?
It seems unreal this is not yet fixed. I pay good money for my realm. I would like to be able to physically back up my world. One day, I would like to export my world when we are finished with the realm. As it is, all our work is at risk of being list or corrupted. Please fix this. It isn’t a minor bug.
This is still an issue as of 5/11/2025 and has actually gotten worse. There are now multiple users who are paying for this premium service that have made multiple duplicate issues.
In brief:
I created a new Minecraft Realm world, added nothing but Minecraft Marketplace Packs. There are less than 14 add-ons on the realm. The realm is less than 30MB in size. I was able to download backups of this realm with no issue last week, now I can no longer do so. I already lost a world on my Realm that had a month’s worth of work on it.
Seeing as this has been an issue that has not been addressed since 2017 really makes me question if I wish to continue paying for a service that is as non-functional and bug-ridden as it currently is.
You can refer to my post on this issue for exact details:

We have identified the root cause of the issue and are working on a fix. The issue is due to the number packs applied to the world.
Update: still occurs for my realm in 1.21.90. Started with the 1.21.80 update.
The download status bar gets to almost full and then I get the cryptic “An error occurred” message, and “Import failed” notification at the top of the screen.
The world is 1.1 gb
The world has 1 resource pack applied. It is a small pack I made with 66 files and < 1 mb in size. Disabling the pack does not fix the download error.
The same error occurs on two different Windows 10 PCs and an iPhone.
I can download a backups from 4/16/25 and 5/3 but not 5/11 or later. That suggests this issue affects only worlds that have been opened in 1.21.80 or later.
The backup from 5/3 is >1 gb in size, only slightly smaller than the current world, so this issue does not appear to be related to file size.
During the download I can see that the .mcworld file is created inside of C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\minecraftpe
The file size increases steadily during download but the game deletes the file when it gives the error message.I have tried clearing the Windows page file and maximizing free RAM, but with over 3 GB of free RAM it still fails.
Based on the progress bar and mcworld file size, it looks the game downloads the entire mcworld and then deletes it after it fails to import. I wish it would give users the option to keep the file for investigation. Even better, I wish it would allow you to download the world files as they exist on the server rather than forcing the mcworld packing. Then I could try to manually import the world.

A player on the realm used MCPE Viz and a text editor to delete all chunks in the world we did not care about lowering the world file to 200mb. after uploading this world to realms I am now able to download my realm again... Was this a bug, Is there a 500mb limit? So many questions.
