Whenever I try to download any of my three realm worlds, it barely starts, then says "download failed", I already tried removing my texture packs and optifine but still no luck.

OCTOBER: It was always very hard to download my world in realms, because there is no RESUME downloading. It just fails.
The last time I upload my world was about 3GB. And cant download now, trying and trying with no success, didnt get to 10% yet and fails and need to start over again. There is any other way do download? FTP, or any kind of RESUME from when it stopped?
NOVEMBER UPDATE: it got to 30% twice and failed
DECEMBER UPDATE: I finally succeeded, it took lots of hours and everyday attempts.
I need to DOWNLOAD to ADD a missing area and then REUPLOAD to server, but with this absurd bugs and no resume, easier to cancel REALMS and go to another solution.
WHY there is no RESUME in REALMS? WHY?

I found a costly workaround in case this is an option. We currently use Minecraft on Switch, and on iPad. Neither of those would let us download the realm. I was able to use an Xbox One, buy the game (yes a third copy), then log in with our acct and download it there.
The problem seems to certainly revolve around the 2GB system limit & I'm not sure where the 2GB on the switch is being used up but there's no way to actually clear it in a way that will actually work. I hope this is fixed soon, but there's at least one way to roundabout save your worlds.

I am getting the same issue, it gets to 100% and then the download fails. It's really upsetting because this is a world that I have spent about 300 hours on, so the worry that I can't download it, really scares me.

This already happens in 1.17.1 Java running on Linux OS, with the following errors:

This error i think is caused for a connection reset from your side and an Spureus Retransmission.

In my case, only one of the three realms seems not to be downloadable.

I downloaded the backup connecting a VPN (from the US, though it works from other locations).
I have no idea why it solves the problems, however, the server sent the backup rapidly, without the issue I had before.

I'm getting this same error message with the new 1.18 patch. I could easily download my latest backups in 1.17, but not in 1.18. Same error message as OP has attached.
