Trying to upload an old world that weighs about 0.8GB to our realms server, it's getting consistently stuck at around 5% or 6% when uploading (Error "-1"). This is really odd to me and I have just paid for the membership. I need help, we can't start another world because this one is very important.
I already tried on two PC's, both of which have Minecraft Java Edition (Win 10). I have seen many error 500's online but not a single error "-1". Help!!!

Irritatingly, I've recently started having this problem too and I can't figure out what's wrong.
I was hoping mojang would've responded to this, looks like I'm out of luck.
Sorry to hear about the ongoing issue - it might be worth you getting in touch with Mojang Customer Support directly, who may be able to assist you with your specific Realm subscription.

I'm having this issue now. All the items here say it's resolved, but maybe not?

I have the same issue. I believe it's possibility related to the fact that the world is grown more than 400MB.
I can no longer upload. It fails after the upload and the server crashes. After some time it runs again.
This is extremely annoying... We pay for realms, it's kinda unacceptable to not have core features od the realm not working.

I have the same issue. This is really annoying. My opinion of realms has lowered quite a bit.

I am on 1.15.2
I have been trying to upload a world to my realm for almost 3 days now. on my bigger world it gets to 10.9% them give the "upload failed (-1)" error. I have tried with a brand new world and it gets to 100% but still fails with the error "upload failed! (500)" I have uploaded a screenshot of both. The big world has datapacks, although I tried taking a copy of it and removing the datapacks completely and then uploading with the same result. The world that gets to 100% has no datapacks and is very small. I will keep trying, but hopefully the Mojang team can figure out whats up. Best of luck!
Edit: I just tried resetting the world with a new world, not even uploading one and it comes up with "null - 0" I don't know whats going on.... I can switch between the worlds that are already created on realm (I have all 3 slots created) and I can do the world templates, but can't create a new world or upload one from single player.

I download the world to replace maps for inserting images. If I don't open the world while downloaded it actually can be uploaded again. If I open the world in single player while downloaded - it fails. So something happens when opening it.

I am having this issue while also experiencing realms 4042 error (stuck in close)...

Am having the same issue. Been trying to upload a world all day with no luck

this issue first came to my attention personally in June of 2020, the original post was in August 2019, and now it's March 2021, almost a year and a half. Can we please get some sort of update on the status of this issue? I and many other Minecraft players are paying for realms and as such I believe we are entitled to know whether or not this issue is even being looked at. If this issue is being ignored and pushed under the carpet as it were, I am inclined to cancel my realms sub. I understand that realms is probably not the highest money maker in the Mojang arsenal, but I feel like it's bad business to ignore the issues your paying customers are having. I apologize if this comes off as slightly confrontational, but I have put up with this issue for almost a year and multiple updates/patches have been released in that time and I feel like this is being ignored. If we can get some evidence that it's at least being looked into that would be great.

IT'S OPTIFINE!!!!
I just had this issue and it was driving me insane. Turns out, if you switch from modded Optifine to the vanilla version, it will work flawlessly. I hope this is a solution to your issue, too.

If that really is the case, then that would make it an invalid bug report due to modified/3rd party content being involved. Although it could also only be optifine causing issues on your end and might not be the same cause for everyone else (in which case it would still be a valid report).

Having this issue trying to upgrade a 1.19.4 realm to 1.20- Initially thought it was due to vanilla tweaks but even trying to upload a totally vanilla file I get the same error message.
