Realm: the purchase was successful but we can't renew your realm right now

Issue:

I get the error, someone started renewing a realm with the billing account on this device. Would you like to complete renewing that realm with this Xbox Live account as the owner?

 

And then, after clicking "Yes", I'm given:

 

Your purchase succeeded, but we couldn't create your realm right now. We will create your Realm as soon as possible. check back later on this device.

 

However the realm has not been created 48 hours later. I tried again, and got charged again but it still didn't work. I backed up the realm and then deleted it and tried to create a new one so I could re-upload the realm but got the same message of someone having started renewing a realm error. 

 

Assistance required.

I don't know if this was a solution or good timing but when I cancelled the subscription and went back onto Minecraft the problem was fixed
