Realm revert to past save?

Are you 100% sure that noone reset it to an older backup?

I just had this issue as well after the server was down for a short time (~15 minutes). NOT happy, Never had this issue with paid servers in the past.

The same happened to me and my friend. Everything we did yesterday just disappeared. And no backups was saved. This has happened to this server before too.

Same thing happened to me.

I got on my realms server and did the following: /gave myself a crafting table, placed it, /gave myself a name tag and named a cow, made 4 cakes, gave 2 cakes to my friend, then got off. When I got off, the crafting table and name tag had disappeared. I was where I was before I got on the first time. My friend had the 2 cakes I had given her, but I didn't have the other 2. This is not the first time this happened.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Me and my sister were building houses, then I shut down the realm. Then I decided I wanted to play some more, so within a minute I had the server back up. I was in my sister's house when I shut down the realm, and I spawned back in my house when I got back on. Then, about an hour later, I got off. The next morning, the houses were back to how they had been before we got on. I tried restoring to a backup from 12 hours ago, but same thing. ALL OUR HARD WORK!!!!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS MOJANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same here on my friend's server. It seems like the map will save normally most of the time. But will randomly not save at all and revert back to an older version of itself. It is extremely frustrating to play there now, as there is no way to know if our progress will be saved or not.

What are the possible causes? Please fix this!

Same happened to me.

Just got my realm 2 days ago on a 30 day payment. Me and my brother were playing for several hours. We built a house, went mining and so on. Then I closed the server for the night and in the morning I logged in to the same world and there was no house, no mine and all it had saved was me chopping some trees. I downloaded the latest auto save but that was the same. I am very annoyed that my money has gone to waste as we don't want to do everything again and I will be cancelling my realms at the next opportunity unless this is fixed.

I'd recommend you cancel your Realms subscription, because as you can see, this issue is unresolved since 2014, and not even assigned. Me and my friends ran into this problem after 2-3 months without this issue, then it started happening roughly 30% of the time. This is why we cancelled our Realms as well. Now we play the same map in LAN.

I actually have a theory (albeit very improbable) about what could cause this problem, but I can't verify, since I don't have physical access to the servers 😛

If I'm right, the Realms are running on Virtual machines, which do not contain the map data, they would contain stuff like login info, stats and what not. The actual maps (again, if I'm right) are saved on RAID arrays, from which the Virtual machine loads the data when booting up (via optical fiber?).

The Realms will only save once the server (Virtual machine) shuts down due to inactivity, and sometimes is unable to access the RAID array in "write" mode. So, when booting again once a player logs in, it loads whatever is still on the array, which is an older version of the map, because the Realm was unable to write on the array at the last shut down.

This issue seems to happen to only a few people, which would mean only a few arrays are affected by this issue (Are they on the same network switch? Are they plugged on the same faulty battery?)

Again, this is my highly improbable theory, and also the only way I could explain this issue since I don't have physical access to the machines.

This is happening a lot to me too. I typically lose 30 minutes - 1 hour of work, but it's very annoying. I'm considering looking for a different server host service.

Happens very often, almost every time to me too. It’s very frustrating. Don’t have much free time and hate to redo over and over. Feeling already worries I might redo it again and maybe still again cause realm is again „not saving“ progress. I can also not reupload a themepack.

I tried to reinstall the game and it still reverts back. I exit and save then reload the realm right away and its fine, but then I log out and come back an hour later and its back to a previous save. Happened 4 times these past two days and I don't want to play and waste any more time till its fixed.

The same thing is happening to me.

Had this problem happen today on our 1.16 Realm. Me and a friend played for a few hours and when we came back in the evening, our progress from earlier was all gone and inventories were reverted to yesterday's save.

My users are reporting the same problem on our realm. VERY frustrating. It has gotten so bad I am looking for new server host.
