I play Realms Bedrock edition of Minecraft. I think the issue listed below start in version 1.2.5 and has continued since then.
The bug:
Damage is sometimes received when moving out of a nether portal. Moving into the portal in the over world causes no damage but on the nether side damage can be received. If time was spent standing in the portal upon arrival a significant amount of damage is received, up to and including death.
Some portals only cause damage when moving into the nether, while other portals cause damage both ways. Some portals consistently cause more damage than others.
I initially thought the damage was caused because the portal was build against a wall and that materialising in the wall caused suffocation. However, I recently removed walls from both sides of my portals in the nether and the over world but the damage still occurs.

I have been experiencing this issue on my survival realm and it's becoming a big issue (many players live far from one another and use the nether to travel). Only specific portals cause damage, and they only cause damage going one way (either into the nether or into the overworld). No blocks are obstructing these portals. I have rebuilt some of these portals and it did not have any effect. Some of the portals cause more damage than others; the one that goes to my base regularly will damage me 1.5 to 3 hearts, but one just built today is for some reason causing the game to hang in loading (the generating terrain screen upon entering the nether) for around 10 seconds or so, and doing quite a bit of damage as a result. I am playing on Switch; others in my realm are playing from Switch, PC, Xbox and mobile.

I've been experiencing this issue in both realms and multiplayer worlds for a few months now. Players step into the nether portal either going to or coming from the nether and take varying amounts of damage. Sometimes players just lose half a heart and sometimes they suffocate. I'm hosting the world on Windows 10 playing Minecraft Bedrock version 1.2.11
