minecraft.net switches to a random language randomly

Confirmed for 24 June 2020. I am in Russia, it defaults to /fr-fr/. I am using English Windows 10 professional, Chrome Version 83.0.4103.116 64-bit.

Confirmed for 13 July 2020, I'm from the US and the page defaults to /ja-jp

I can confirm this too. I'm from the United States and I use the en-us site, however it always transfers me automatically to the fr-fr website. This has been an issue for several years for me. Whatever Mojang uses to detect the user's locale is obviously outdated or malfunctioning.

It's not only that, it also triggers when it shouldn't. There's no reason to change the language on logout (or login, I think it sometimes also happens to me then).

Confirmed on October 12 2020, anytime I go to a new page it goes to de-de

Check your browser language settings, minecraft.net can pick secondary language while you are using a different interface language.

Changing language settings fixed it for me

Temporarily, sure. But it switched back to a different language in various situations.

Even clearing the cache data didn't fix it, even temporarily.

It randomly changed to Chinese when i visit the Minecraft Store, I can't even read it, so hard about it.... Hopefully they fix this

Confirmed on April 21 2021, I'm from the US and the page defaults to /zh-hans

Can confirm the issue is still happening, been happening to me for the last year or two, and I'm from the UK and it auto-redirects to zh-hans. Then shortly after will says "Access Denied" and not let me access minecraft.net when trying to get back to en-us.

People have suggested on Reddit potentially browser hijacking malware, done scans, done new browsers, done virtual machines, everything I can think of regardless of environment still happens.

can confirm still happening, fresh install of windows on a brand new computer, first place i visited was minecraft.net

this is because the mincraft.net server is incorrectly parsing the browser header. my browser is sending

accept-language: en-US,en;q=0.9,es;q=0.8

and the server is incorrectly interpreting that as Spanish, when it should be responding with English.

Every time I access Minecraft.net, it switches itself to Polish (pl-pl). When I go to the support sub-domain, it uses English (en-us). I don't have a VPN active so it can't be that. I have changed the language to English multiple times through the GUI in the site footer, yet it doesn't care and keeps defaulting to Polish when I access the website again.

I'm accessing the site from Eastern US, with no active VPN, so I don't understand why it thinks I need to see the polish website. Even if I switch on my VPN browser extension to US, or UK, it still insists on Polish.

Minecraft.net has no language settings associated with my account, and my Microsoft account is all United States and English.

Regardless as to whether or not it's a site cookie being blocked, the website should see my country/region and correctly default to English (United States), not Polish.

Even more interesting, I looked at the cookies, and it is saving my language, just not using the cookie for some reason.

I can say, the site use the last language in the header instead of the first lanugage(which it should). For example:

If the header is:
accept-language: en,zh-CN;q=0.9,zh;q=0.8,zh-TW;q=0.7
Then it will redirect me to tranditional Chinese page because zh-TW is the last one.
 
if the header is:
accept-language: en,zh-CN;q=0.9,zh;q=0.8,zh-TW;q=0.7,ja;q=0.6
Then it redirects me to Japanese page.
So, they need to fix this...

For me the site redirects to german, despite explicitly setting it to english previously. The header in my browser is:{{{}{}}}

accept-language: en-US,en;q=0.9,de-DE;q=0.8,de;q=0.7,hu-HU;q=0.6,hu;q=0.5

This has been a problem for years for me, and is still an issue. For my systems, (both PC, and Android on Wi-Fi and cellular), it always defaults to the "fr-fr" pages, regardless of being logged in or logged out. (Even with anonymous browsing it happens).

I cannot even manually select "en-us" because it throws forbidden or page not found errors. I'm forced to use Google Chrome's built-in translation function to even use the website at all, (including for Mojang to Minecraft account migrations).

This is a fairly significant problem, and I'm surprised it isn't top priority for the webmasters. It makes the website completely unusable for a significant group of users.

Same here. https://www.minecraft.net always redirect to ja-JP for me.

This is happening to me too. Even after I scroll to the bottom of the page and change to English it has no effect whatsoever it always keeps going back to Japanese if I try to navigate ANYWHERE. I'm on Google Chrome.

Same issue in Vivaldi (chrome based). I found that to fix it, you have to go to browser settings, search "language", and in the list of languages, delete all but en-us and en (also keep your native language, of course). Weird bug, this is the only site where I had this problem.
