Feedback reporting requires a workaround

This is my third of three (four, actually, I thought of another one) posts about the feedback site.

This one is very much a bug in the code - I noticed it years ago but only thought of reporting these things yesterday. Here's how to reproduce it:

1. Go to feedback.minecraft.net and click on one of their categories - any will do. Let's say you chose Marketplace.
2. Click "create new feedback” at the top of the page (don't worry, this doesn't involve submitting anything).
3. Type up your subject line (some number of "related" posts will show up, just ignore them) and the text of your message.
4. Select the category as the same one you were looking at (Marketplace in this example). You won't be able to submit your feedback.

Expected result: I can post my feedback and it hopefully won't get taken down by a bot with no explanation (WEB-7700)

Years ago I thought this was a problem in the subject line, like if your subject was too close to someone else's it wouldn't let you post your message. It's not. The problem is with submitting feedback in the same category that you were just looking at, which is what the vast majority of players would do (they don't want to duplicate someone's post, after all).

The workaround: Select a different category (anything except the one you want) and then select the one you want again. Now it lets you send it.

Like I said, this bug has been around for years. Please fix it!

Edit: whoopsie, looks like I can’t edit a bug report to add pictures. That’s definitely another bug (and I feel like it’s already been submitted? I dunno, thought I read that somewhere). Suffice it to say, I took pictures and I’d love to put them up here when that bug is fixed. I’ve also fixed some of my wording and grammar to make this original post more clear. I hope WEB-7700 doesn’t have an equivalent on this bug reporting site, or else this bug is going to be deleted in the next five seconds.

Thank you for this report and workaround, it allowed me to share my feedback on the copper golem. I unfortunately still cannot comment though, as my test box always says “0/1500 characters”

Is this still an issue for you?

This is in fact still an issue. I only just realized I haven’t put up some pictures with this one. Hopefully they’ll be in the original post now and editing a post won’t automatically delete it like it does on the feedback site. This bug is 100% reproducible, at least on my end (running Windows 10 and I’ve tried multiple browsers).

Once again, this problem only happens if you were looking at the category you wanted to post in and then tried to create new feedback in that category using the link at the top of the page. To my knowledge, it works just fine if you try to post something literally anywhere else…

For some reason, this won’t let me add the pictures. I can’t put images in a comment… looks like another bug report!
