You don't have to use SHIFT to get the glitch as well as damage to the horse.

Also putting wood in top left corner makes charcoal...without a furnace.

Actually this may be my computer issue. Seems when I have a second user logged into Win10 that switching back to my main account causes a slowdown. I loaded the same world back up with just my main Win10 account logged in and there was no lag. Prior to 1.12 I was playing with both Win10 accounts logged in and never noticed this issue but at this point I don't think your time is best spent on this issue.

Running in an Admin CMD window didn't help but I found the problem. A few months ago it worked okay in my OneDrive folder but now I had to move it out of there and it worked just fine now. I don't know if this is something in Minecraft or the latest Windows update.

No plugins, totally vanilla

Verified FIXED in 16w07b for both land and water dismount of horse causing no damage to horse or player. Nice job fixing this fast 🙂

WORK-AROUND>>>>>> dismount in water

Did some more testing...it certainly is from going up/down while riding horse. Damage when dismounting can be avoided if dismount is in any level of water.

I know this is listed as duplicate but it is the best detailed description of the problem. I was testing speed for various horses and had no damage dismounting. Once I took a horse out of the relatively flat plains then it took MAJOR damage dismounting. I was also going through trees but the elevation change makes much more sense.

I had this happen with 2 horses. The second horse didn't seem to take damage every time I dismounted but I have to test more. Using 16w06a and multiplayer 16w06a.
