I am having the same type of problem.  Mob grinder I had was working great then after 19w04 it won't work because there is light coming from an unknown source.

I had the same thing happen to me today.  I had villagers when I started my game, went through my nether portal to a location over 1000 blocks away.  When I returned all but 4 of my villagers were gone, my horse, my cows, my chickens all gone.

I play on two servers and it seems to rain everyday on each of them. I don't want to disable the rain because I like the mechanic as a whole. But we spend more time in rain than we do it sun, it's annoying. Not sure if that is a bug or an intended feature.
