I can vouch that this is indeed still an issue. I purchased my 3rd copy of Minecraft today (for PS4) to play cross-platform with my daughter. Signing into my Microsoft account yields "Signing in with your Microsoft account...' hung on the screen for hours. If I cancel, the typical expected error of "linked to another account" comes up. I'd love to see this fixed.......
It's also worth noting that this seems potentially related to some aspect of storage outside the realm of standard drive space or the hard limit on world-available space established and denoted on the bottom bar of the create world screen. It has spanned numerous releases. Whatever this is, it's either internal to Minecraft itself, or somewhere within the actual Microsoft account that users are unable to access/manipulate. I have scoured MS account specifics up and down and have found no point of reference for my Marketplace content anywhere.
