Says "Account already connected" when try to connect new Microsoft account.

I have this bug too. My Microsoft Account is linked to a Nintendo account, where I've played Minecraft with it on the Switch for months now. It is not linked with a Playstation account.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start the game immediately after update

2. Try to link MS account

3. Wait for minutes at "Signing in with your Microsoft Account..."

4. Cancel

5. See the error above

6. Try to link MS account again

7. Immediately see the error above (no waiting time)

8. Back to 6 a couple of times

9. Restart Minecraft, try linking

10. Wait for now 11 minutes at "Signing in with your Microsoft Account..."

11. I'll keep you posted, it's still waiting

If that is relevant, I'm using the Microsoft Authenticator on Android for two-factor auth. The authenticator always tells me the login was successful, after confirming.

Since I keep editing, it's now 16 minutes at 10. Edit, aborted now after ~25 minutes, and we're back at 6, where the error immediately pops up after logging in.

Hopefully it's an issue with traffic/overload. I say that because the alternative is too stupid. The alternative is they didn't order a PS4 off Amazon and actually test this.

I've been struggling with this issue since the update went live. I'm not able to sign into my account point blank. I keep getting a "Failed to Login" issue. It should also be noted that my account is not one that has been linked with Minecraft before.

Occasionally i will get this screen. All it does is loop infinitely.

It seems to only be existing accounts that have the issue. I created a new account and it worked first try.

After a while of trying again and again I restarted the PS4 and it worked straight away.

Sadly, that didn't work for me... I hope the issue gets resolved soon :')

can anyone actually play because it has not let me for 7 hours and it keeps on saying that "Oops! Looks like the Microsoft Account you are trying to use is already connected to another account on PlayStation Network"

Mine worked. What I did:

• Change my password (which also told me that it'd merge my Microsoft account with my Skype account, so the account type must be different now somehow)

• Removed my authenticator temporarily

With these two changes, linking the accounts worked immediately.

Recommendations that did not work for me:

• Rebooting the PlayStation

• Logging in via non-mobile web browser

I tried the suggestions above (changing my password, turning off two-factor auth, removing my authenticator, logging in via non-mobile web browser, etc.) without success (maybe I did it out of sequence or I missed a detail? Seems like I followed it thoroughly enough for it to work). As such, I re-enabled two-factor and my authenticator for ideal security moving forward.

Either way, it still gave me that same error so I'm eagerly awaiting for this to be resolved properly without needing to jump through a varying list of potential hoops in order for this to work.

I had the same issue, but then I disabled 2 factor authentication and was able to log in on my PS4. Problem solved!

What helped for me is actually making the username. When I made my minecraft earth account, I used the same login info as the PS4 and it brought me to make a username for it and then it suddenly worked for me on PS4. Hope this helps some people.

I've got the same problem. I try to link and it says the Microsoft account is already used.

I don't have Minecraft Earth (My xiaomi redmi 5 plus and my samsung tablet are not compatible with it)

On the main menu screen, trying to log in gives the "used account" error. If I'm, prompted to log in by trying to open the profile menu, it loops trying to log into it.

I've received several alerts by email saying that there was a successful log in on my Microsoft account, but not for all the attempts I made.

All this means as well that I can't use the things i purchased on my PSN account.

Just for the record. I have the same nametag on both accounts. 
2 step authentication was not active on my account.

I had the same problem. Then I tried to create other account and it works until an error message appear, but it doesn't show what's the problem. Please fix it!!

I tried a lot of things, but nothing worked.

After I connected my PS4 with another ISP it worked without problems. It looks like, that the issue has something to do with the internet connectivity to the servers from Microsoft and the ISPs.

So if it still not works, simply try to create a WLAN access point with your smartphone (disable WLAN to your local router) and connect the PS4 with this WLAN. Start Minecraft and try again.

I also get a "New sign-in detected for your Microsoft account" email each time with it still saying it's already linked with another account. Per Jörg's comment, I made sure my VPN was disconnected so my PS4 and computer were on the same ISP connection (just in case that was a security precaution where the IP needs to be the same), and it still gave me the same error. I've tried everything mentioned here, and I'm still getting that same error.

Same problem, wasn’t even cross playing but now can’t even play online with other ps  friends cuz I can’t get online because it won’t let me sign in on my Microsoft account. “We tried to sign you into your Microsoft account but something went wrong”

I updated my ps4 minecraft to today's patch (ps4 2.0, which does not change the bedrock version from 1.4) and it solved it for me and for my son. both psn and microsoft accounts linked properly.

Another difference is this time I tried to link from my phone instead of my computer, and in my previous attempts, I was on my pc using remote play.

I am having the same issue with the failed login attempt. First tried to connect it two days ago then gave it 2 days in hopes it would be resolved. I removed the game tonight, wiped any memory of minecraft off my system and installed it again. My brother and I both set up our accounts for microsoft on the same day, two days ago and he got it to log in without an issue yet, when i tried it failed and its failing again still. We both did it the same way and we are using the same wifi connection. What sucks is I have a bunch of the costume packs bought from before this new update and now it wont let me access none of them until I log in. I couldnt careless about connecting with others on cross platforms but the fact i have no access to my paid stuff really stinks. Hope this is resolved soon.

Just purchased MC today

Tried to sign in with my old xbox live Microsoft account, and get the same error.

Have done the following with no avail

• changed pw

• disabled two-factor authentication

• check my Microsoft profile to verify the devices sync'd does not include another PS4

• Tried Mobile/Non-mobile browser to sync

PS4 - PSN Online ID FearfulWarpII. Game updated to latest version.

I could not access the Marketplace, so I signed out of my Microsoft account. (Game showed a warning about not being able to play with cross-platform friends)

I then tried to sign in, and lo and behold, “this account that I’m trying to use is already connected to another PlayStation Network account”... my account!

The worst thing is, I can’t unlink it through anywhere. (Unless I’m missing something.)

I found that resetting the password for the email associated with the Xbox GT ScoffingBarley3 worked before, but not now...

This same thing has been happening to me. I have tried to link my ps4 account to my old xbox live account, a new xbox live account, etc. It constantly says that the microsoft account is linked to a different PSN account, which is BS especially if I made the microsoft account less than 5 minutes beforehand. This has been happening for a while, and I would appreciate a resolution. Playstation Customer support told me to come here, so here I am.

I am having the same issue. The first time I ever tried to associate my Microsoft account with my PSN, I am being told it is already associated with a different PSN. This is really frustrating, I was really looking forward to trying out cross play

has there been any announcement of an upcoming patch to fix this issue? I've been trying to get it to work for 2 days using different methods I've looked up, but nothing seems to work that I have found, I got it to sign in for a split second where it said I was signed in before it kicked me off with the same error message and idk how I got it to get to that point

This issue occurred to me yesterday. I have never linked my PS4 account. I created a brand new Microsoft account and received the error

Ended up just giving up on it. Attempted multiple times. First I tried making a microsoft account with the same email that my PSN account is tied to. It wouldn't let me, so I tried making a microsoft account with a different email address. Now I'm getting the failed to log in error. Means I'm still unable to play with friends.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Signing in takes absurdly long. At least my Xbox GT now shows up

Can’t access the marketplace. I have the ability to unlink my account, but can’t browse the store.

Which means no skin switching!

I, too, was able to log in after the 2.01 update (hooray!) I backed out of the remoteconnect code screen since that was taking absurdly long, but found it actually logged in (apparently, judging by my Xbox name & picture shown on the main screen as well as saying I'm signed in via Settings => Profile) & just didn't advance past that screen automatically.

Unfortunately, I, too, am currently unable to access my Profile, Minecraft Store, etc. per that still saying "You will need an account on 'PlayStation Network' to browse the store." which only offers that I log into my Microsoft account, and then it seemingly hangs at the "Signing in with your Microsoft Account..." status which I eventually cancel for it seemingly not doing anything. All of these remaining issues are wierd since I am definitely signed into my PlayStation account, and Minecraft itself shows I'm already signed into my Microsoft account (with it prompting me like I'm not signed into either when trying to access the store & just sitting there when I try to follow its prompts.)

We were able to access the marketplace and browse around. We didn’t buy anything though. My daughter played cross platform for about two hours with  Xbox users without  any issues

I'm having the same issues. I linked my microsoft account with my ps4 then tried to access the online store and it said unable to connect. I try and sign in to my microsoft account and it just won't let me. 

I'm also having this issue. My computer did an auto login (Which it never did prior! xD) with a newer account when I got to remoteconnect, and I can't use the "Unlink Microsoft Account" option, it always says to "Maybe check your internet connection?" I've deleted and re-downloaded the game, deleted files, signed out of everything and still no luck. Hopefully the option to simply unlink can be fixed,

I restarted minecraft completely this morning and I came up with a message saying that there has been an update to fix a few bugs etc. I can now log onto my microsoft account and I can also access the minecraft store, happy days!

I have recently bought minecraft for my PS4 and have created a Microsoft account. When i load minecraft and try and login i get an error. The error reads "we tried to sign you in to your Microsoft account, but something went wrong." I have got in contact with Microsoft and followed all the steps they gave me. Nothing worked! My wifi is fine, my account is working. I would really like to play Minecraft.

I also had a  "we tried to sign you in to your Microsoft account, but something went wrong." problem. Reboots and everything didn't help, neither did changing password etc. Ended up deleting the local data of Minecraft on the PS4 (that works without deleting the levels). After that, I was able to log in again.

I’ve been having the same issue. I’ve contacted Microsoft but they said to contact Mojang. Really hope this gets fixed soon. I just payed a lot of money for my realm on mobile and for the console, the game, and PS+.

I can vouch that this is indeed still an issue. I purchased my 3rd copy of Minecraft today (for PS4) to play cross-platform with my daughter. Signing into my Microsoft account yields "Signing in with your Microsoft account...' hung on the screen for hours. If I cancel, the typical expected error of "linked to another account" comes up. I'd love to see this fixed.......

I'm still seeing this issue in Minecraft v2.01 on my PS4.

I've tried:

1. Closing and re-opening the application (Minecraft)

2. Restarting the Playstation

3. Deleting and re-installing the application.

4. Changing the password for my Microsoft account

5. Retrying the 'Sign in with a Microsoft Account' button multiple times

Reopening based on reports of this still happening to players. For those affected on PS4, could you please let us know if this only happens if you log out and then try and log back in, and also if you are seeing the "something went wrong" error, or the "already signed in" error message. Thanks for your patience while we get this resolved.

I still receive the following (despite never linking or at least not recalling linking my accounts): Please sign in with a Microsoft Account that is not already linked to an account for “PlayStation Network”

A way to actually see from within my “linked” Microsoft account what possible PlayStation network account it is linked to would be ideal - and more importantly the ability to unlink it. The support forums state it can be done but we will lose mine coins etc. But it does not provide details as to how it can be done.

A server-side fix has been made and players should now be able to sign in successfully. For any ongoing account related issues please contact Mojang Customer Support directly, who should be able to assist you further.

This is happening to me every time I try to start the game. I never logged out but did close the game. It’s been going on for almost 2 weeks. I get the “we tried to sign you in to your Minecraft account, but something went wrong” message. 

I have powered down, I have uninstalled the game, I have logged in to my account no problem on x box app and Microsoft website. I also tried downloading a free texture pack as some youtubers are suggesting. Nothing has fixed this.

I have deleted everything Minecraft related on my PS4 and started over.... still no good.

What do i need to do now?

This should be reopened as the bug still actually exists within the latest version (as I'm typing this comment) of MC ps4 Bedrock. Just login to a psn account, launch Minecraft bedrock, link to a Microsoft account, all done, and try to click on the sign in button in the menu of the game... still the same error message

Dev note : It might be related to a Psn or Microsoft account setting as it seems to work for some Psn/Microsoft accounts and not for some others.

They really need to fix this my buddy recently had this issue now today i got this issue.

yes it is the 25th of April now and it has almost been a month and it keeps on saying “failed to login”

I am having the exact same problem!  I wanted to cross-play with my kids last night.  I have the PC version and the PS4 version, ran the PS4 client and it wouldn't let me connect to my LAN server without linking a MS account.  I linked my main MS account and it wouldn't let me connect both because it didn't like that I was signed in from 2 places (Even though I bought both copies of the game 😞 ... this is a lame design.  Please reconsider.  I shouldn't be prevented from playing by your pay wall if I already paid for both clients.).  I tried to unlink the MS account, create a brand-new MS account for use on the PS4, and it would not let me link it.  I get the "Oops! ..." error already attached to this thread by others.

I have the same thing.... I just bought one month of ps plus so I could play Minecraft with my friend in the vacation, and then this happens… I really hope it's over soon so I can play with my friend in our vacation. And I just bought ps plus… almost a month should be enough to fix this, wouldn't it?

Same issue, when I try to "Sign in with a Microsoft Account" I get the message, "Failed to Login- We tried to sign you in to your microsoft account, but something went wrong."

You can’t play on the SAME account at the same time

I have the same problem. I bought the game for my son to play online since he has ps4 plus and he cannot use it that way because the link with the microsoft account fails. I followed all the steps indicated and it still fails.

@khenckel my son is experiencing this issue, how do I create a private thread? He's desperate to resolve it as he can no longer play cross-platform with his friend.

Hi , had this issue but logged in last week had 3 days playing with mates but this week back to being locked out PLEASE fix this

Same as well. Tried redownloading the game but it made no difference. Nether update has made no difference for me

I have re downloaded the game, changed my password and have gotten the new update and am still having problems.... going on two weeks of this now. :/

Still no fix? I’ve been having this issue for a few weeks now. Also tried all of above.

this worked for me:
1. Go to the PS4 settings menu
2. Select 'Application Saved Data Management'.
3. Select 'Saved Data in System Storage'
4. Select DELETE
5. Select Minecraft
6. Delete the SAVED DATA files.  (There were two on my system).  You don't need to touch your World designs.
 
Once the files are deleted reload Minecraft. 
 
The game will start as if for the first time.
 
Follow the setup instructions for Microsoft account login

Is this still an ongoing issue for players? If so, are you able to try clearing your sign in data using the following button combo:

1. Launch Minecraft

2. When the initial loading screen appears, hold the following buttons:

3. Button combination is L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + OPTIONS + Touch Pad, and must be held until the initial splash screen is removed

We would love to hear back as to whether this helps.

In my case, this issue was resolved with 1.16. I signed in automatically after the update installed and have not had the issue since.

My issues just magically started working on its own, before the update..... 

I was worried that it would stop working on its own, which it hasnt. 

I’ve just been hit by this following a crash on my PS4. Screen turned magenta, game lagged out and crash report message appeared. I tried the address given by MegaSpud but they just sent a reply directing me to process my refund at PlayStation Network. ???They don’t seem to have anything to do with this. Holding the button combination only results in a message saying login failed and login manually (how?). Trying again results in the Something went wrong message.

I keep getting “failed to login.” I also need more specific instructions  about L1 L2... thing. What should I expect? What does it change? What will I see when it is done? What exactly IS a splash screen? Sorry for all the questions.

Hey so uh I haven’t played This game for a little over a week now and I just got this failed to login glitch. I tried restarting the game and even deleting it and reinstalling it. But it didn’t work so I ended up deleting the saved data thing in my ps4 storage and that still didn’t work. I need help please help me. I also tried making another account and it still didn’t work! Please help!

"Please note that linking a Microsoft account to PSN is a final action. If you link to an incorrect account, this process is irreversible and your entitlements (Worlds, Skins, Currency, etc.) will forever be linked to the PSN account you previously connected to." - Mojang support reply. 

How to fix thiw bug?

This issue is not resolved, I'm having the same issues with new accounts and latest updates!

I am still unable to log into my account on PS4 on the latest update. 

This solution will only work if you have Minecraft Dungeons and already linked a microsoft account to your psn account and trying to link a different microsoft account.

1. Sign out of your Microsoft account in the Profile screen.

2. If you have Minecraft: Dungeons open it.

3. Go to Settings --> Game --> Configure Cross-Platform Play.

4. Sign in with your original Microsoft account.

5. After you Sign in with your original Microsoft account Go to Settings --> Game --> Configure Cross-Platform Play.

6. Click Unlink Microsoft account.

7. Exit Minecraft: Dungeons.

8. Open Minecraft for Playstation 4.

9. Sign in with your 2nd Microsoft account.

10. It should work.

I think this bug happens because the unlink button in the profile screen is broken

I did what the "Update on this issue:" in the description said to do and support only replied with basically a copy/paste of what the error message itself already says. ** I replied back that I have never associated the Microsoft account with my PSN account and again referenced this ticket. I just bought Minecraft for PS4 and have no other MS games to do so. I bought the PSVR and Minecraft for PS4 just to be able to play my character in my realm in VR.

Well it sucked but the only way I was able to play on all consoles was to create all new accounts. I created a new PS account and invited to the family. I created a new microsoft account and invited to the realm. I guess if they fix my original account, I'll abandon this one but for now, will transfer all my stuff over to the new character and re-earn my achievements. Minecraft is really the only game I play (kids and hubs play other stuff) so acceptable for me considering the benefit of playing VR. Although I hope they fix my original account so I don't have to go through all my achievements again. I'd hate to have to fight the ender dragon and wither again! 

Dear all, i just bought Minecraft for PS4 and it does not show any option to sign into the Microsoft account. Only a button to sign in into the Playstation network that however does nothing. So i cannot access the marketplace or edit the profile.  I already tried deleting the game and the saved data but nope. Of course i checked my PSN account is fine. 

Try signing in to your psn account by pressing the button that says sign in to psn

Using the button combination "L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + OPTIONS + Touch Pad" i was able to reset the login data and got back to the button to login into my microsoft account. It worked, all good! Nice!
