8 million is pretty far sure, but it's not unheard of for people to travel much farter than that in survival Java servers. You can get to 8 million overworld in under 12 hours if you fly with elytra through the nether, which really isn't extreme enough to justify this game-breaking bug imo
My point is that with modern vanilla features, 8 million (and maybe even 22 million and 30 million) blocks isn't a massive, unobtainable distance that it used to be, so the game really shouldn't be breaking at that distance, especially considering the game encourages exploration
