To any that have lost their worlds. If you have a backup of the device from before the update, you might be able to get the worlds back by restoring that backup. I myself have disabled automatic backup of my device to prevent my last one being overwritten (it was from before I updated the app) and hope that I will get the worlds back once the app is fixed

I have this issue too with an iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5
