Also happening to me after updating to 1.13 on my iPad3. I had opened Minecraft 1.12 and was notified of the update when I opened my Realm, so I said yes to the prompt to check for updates. The app switched over to the App Store, I clicked Update on the Minecraft app, and waited while it installed the update. But ever since then, I get exactly the behavior described in this ticket. Mojang screen, empty white screen, then crash out to iPad home screen. The app is still running in the background, but when I switch to it the screen is still white and then it kicks me back to the home screen. I’ve tried restarting iPad and even did a hard reset. Behavior is identical in all cases. RIP Minecraft.

We have the same problem since the upgrade.  We have an iPad 2 IOS 9.3.5.  When you go into the app it comes up with the Mojang logo, then goes to a white screen and quits out.  Tried rebooting and it didn't work.  My kids don't want to delete and reinstall as they will lose all the worlds they've created.

I have exactly the same problem with an iPad 9.3.6. The logo flashed up then the screen goes white and quits. We have tried reinstalling but it makes no difference.

Same thing happens on my Grandsons iPad, the IOS is 10.3.3 and as soon as the app updated the game will no longer load, the screen goes white and then disappears.

They should make that thing where older iOS try to download an app and it downloads the last working version (i.e. 1.12.1) until they resolve the issue because there's no way to do that manually. I think there are many of us who lost our worlds trying to reinstall 1.13 and just want to be able to play again.

@Edd has a nice idea. I hope a fix will be available soon for iOS players. If this goes on much longer, Mojang should consider refunding this month’s Realm subscriptions to make up for pushing an update that makes the game unplayable.

To any that have lost their worlds. If you have a backup of the device from before the update, you might be able to get the worlds back by restoring that backup. I myself have disabled automatic backup of my device to prevent my last one being overwritten (it was from before I updated the app) and hope that I will get the worlds back once the app is fixed

Exactly the same issue here with both our older iPads. Loads up Mojang screen, flicks to blank white screen, hangs for a few seconds then kicks you back to home screen. Have a VERY upset 7 year old on my hands. Location: West Midlands, United Kingdom

Would it be possible to download version 1.12 instead? You should make a rollback of the latest release, until you find the root cause for this issue

after white screen, shuts down.  If the new update was not going to work 

with old iOS then they should have blocked the update .

Same issue with crashing. Agree with other users suggesting you release a previous version for download until the bug is fixed with the new update. Just paid for the game last week and have not been able to even use it yet. Any updates Mojang?

If you still have an iCloud backup you can use. I was able to downgrade the APP by doing a reset of the phone and then restoring from the last backup. Just make sure you use a backup from before you updated the APP.

What is happening Mojang, the forums are full of this bug and there are a lot of paid customers out there getting very upset. This needs resolution ASAP. If there is no meaningfull update in the next 24 hours then I will escalate this to the senior management team.

Would be nice with an update - afterall they handle all the (now) 25 duplicates, so they MUST be aware... So hard for us with little kids, crying every day when it still doesn't work... The restore function is a good tip, though...

I've got an idea. Everyone who is watching this ticket/reading this comment, head over to the app store and leave a 1 STAR REVIEW for releasing an app that doesn't work and ignoring the community for so long. That will get their attention. Keep'm coming. Come on Mojang, you can't even at least TELL us you're working on it?! This update is causing a lot of problems with my 2 kids that love playing your game together. The sharing my phone (which I need often) isn't going well. There's a lot of fussing. @Edd had a great idea, push an update that is essentially the last release. They can do without Foxes for now!

Thank you Mojang for tracking, we’ll continue to be patient for an update. I recall this same thing happening a couple years back when the update with the “wither” was added and a week later Mojang fixed everything.

I’m sure everyone knows, but removing/wiping iPad and installing fresh from pre October 30th backup works perfectly... if you so happen to have a backup from then.

Luckily we did so my autistic kid has finally stopped crying, left a 1 * app review to draw attention as many others aren’t so lucky; a response and timeframe and temporary roll-back is what’s needed.

We have been working on fixing iOS crashes for a while & continue to do so. We have engineers who are working hard to get fixes out & to you as soon as we’re able (as we have to go through certification & such). Thanks so much for the extra information some of you have provided as well - it’s sometimes difficult for us to determine where the crashes are coming from or why they’re happening. We really appreciate it & we’ll keep watching this thread. (I can’t personally fix it because I am not a software developer.)

There is an issue with Minecraft after the latest update where it will no longer let you play while on cellular data or with restricted wifi. Unfortunately, there has been no response on when Minecraft will be available on cellular data again.

Thank you so much for tracking ticket MCPE-54465. The crash seems very similar to when the MCPE 0.16.0 update came out in Oct 2016, not sure if that is of any help. Really appreciate everything you're doing to assist in it getting resolved!

This is the same issue we are having with our Ipad. Obviously from the comments it is a massive issue! Why not roll back the version until a reason/fix for 1.13 has been worked out?

A rollback might sound as a simple solution (as it has been mentioned here a lot). If players where never able to play the game. However Minecraft is a cross-platform game. Many IOS users where able to play the game on 1.13 and so on every other platform. A (quick) rollback would make their worlds unplayable (and of-course break cross-play).

Please constrain yourself from telling personal stories. This is a bugtracker. Please only add relevant to the point technical information. Else use the vote button.

I have a similar problem, except that it crashes shortly after I get into the world. My other worlds work, it’s just this one. I’m not sure what the problem is because I’ve taken off all addons and shaders yet it still crashes.

Mine crashed but I was able to reload the earlier version from my 'purchased items'. I don't know how long the earlier version would be available in purchased items for - until the next iCloud backup? Anyway, that is how I resolved it while waiting for for the fix. I'm exeriencing the same crash - haven't been able to run for well over a week now. I'm running IOS 9.3.5. For me, MC still doesn't work in Airplane mode so there seems to be some variation there.

Having had this problem on iPad 2s running iOS 9.3.5 my kids have been using our iPhone 6s which are running iOS 12.4.1. That has been fine until just now where we have the same issue with Minecraft as described for iPads.

The Airplane mode did not solve the issue for me neither.

This is not a bug only on Ipad but IOS. And versions from 13,2 and down. So this must be a big issue. Hope you will release a fix very soon.

My 6yo autistic son is absolutely distraught as he started playing a year and a half ago and plays nothing else - his 10 worlds are now lost to him, especially his first world. My nephew is having the same issue on his iPad mini, he's running Minecraft 1.13 and iPadOS 13.2.2

This actually started happening just after we updated his xbox/microsoft parental controls, not sure if it's related but it was running just prior to that on previous version of Minecraft and on iPadOS 13.1.x - when it started crashing I updated Minecraft and iPadOS to the latest versions but the crash kept occurring.

My nephew is having the same issue on his iPad mini, he's running Minecraft 1.13 and iPadOS 13.2.2

This actually started happening just after we updated his xbox/microsoft parental controls, not sure if it's related but it was running just prior to that on previous version of Minecraft and on iPadOS 13.1.x - when it started crashing I updated Minecraft and iPadOS to the latest versions but the crash kept occurring.

It’s hard to underscore the frustration level as a parent, but it really would be a classy move on Mojang’s part if they would recognize everyone who took the time to report the bug, provide versions and descriptions and etc... and simply provided some sort of olive branch (store coins?) for how disruptive this issue has been, compounded by little to no communication.

All will open with either logo or white screen and then crash. 

Deleted the app from the iPad running 10.3.3, reboot iPad and reinstalled the app. It opened long enough to have the notification window pop up, then crashed.

Hey Tan May—the update works on Switch, but you have to pay for Nintendo online services if you’re going to want cross platform play and whatever. I discovered I couldn’t play between an original switch and a lite, on the downloaded copies. It was a mess. So I made them refund my downloaded copy and I bought two physical copies. Now, eventually, my kids will be able to play with each other (on LAN only because I’m not paying for Nintendo subscription two times over on top of two game copies)... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Running one iPad (3rd gen) here and one Android tablet. The iPad has not been able to get past mojang logo since 1.13.0, the Android tablet had been mostly fine save a few small glitches.

My issues seems to be slightly different. My daughter's iPad cannot load existing maps if they get "too big," but can start up new worlds ok. I say "too big" because they aren't very big (AT ALL) and she has a newer iPad that can handle it just fine.

It seems this issue has been affecting many users for several weeks, and there is no ETA on a fix.

If this issue cannot be fixed soon, is it possible to "rollback" to the last known working version? If necessary, publish that under a newer version of the app so iOS sees it as a new version for your users to download.

Couldn't agree more - I'm on an ipad 3 and MC just crashes before the loading page comes up since the upgrade.  I have a very upset 8 yr old who can't access any of his 'worlds' and is heartbroken - surely you can allow us to rollback to the last one that worked....if you can't fix it then why are small children being made to wait for a fix that's taking weeks?????!

I got mine to work. All I needed to do was log out of my Microsoft account while online. The crash only happens when I am offline AND connected to a Microsoft account. But sadly even though I can get in now, it means I can’t save purchases and worlds I bought. SKINS TOO. a few times before I found out how to fix it, I was able to get past the white loading screen for a few seconds sometimes. Hope this helps 🙂

Just updated to 1.13.1 and it's still crashing. Restarted the iPad, made sure everything else was swiped away/quit and it still crashes. My 9-year-old is devastated. Don't you test your products before release?!

Updated to 1.13.1 and exactly the same! 7 yo is devastated...all his worlds gone and can't play it at all as it does the same on my phone and our other IPads. Please resolve this ASAP or roll back to version 1.12...no foxes but at least it worked!

Shabnam cadwallender tell me if it works then. Also you should look up a tutorial on how to copy your Minecraft worlds to your iCloud or files app just in case something happens to the device or app. 🙂

When I saw an update was coming, (1.13.1) even though it was said that iOS issues were being worked out, I was really hoping it would be fixed but I tried after eagerly awaiting all day yesterday and am confirming it does not. : (

I’ve been following this bug for a couple of weeks and I’m pretty sure my kids will be over Minecraft once this issue is fixed at this point. Too bad, I probably would have spent a bunch of money on Minecraft stuff for Christmas but now they don’t play anymore thanks to this problem.

Thanks for confirming Claire, I just thought it might be a compatibility issue between the app and xbox child restrictions.  The app was running fine on my nephews iPad until we setup his Microsoft account to be a part of a family and set up his access.. immediately after the app started crashing.

Hey David Adams. Try connecting to a secure WiFi connection, make sure u don’t have a vpn on your device. and if it lets you on after that, sign out of your nephews Xbox account in the Minecraft settings in the app, and it should work. It worked for me every time. I’m guessing it’s just a bug with connecting to a Microsoft account when offline. Comment back if it works!!!!!!

@Dario Passariello make sure you are not connected to a Microsoft account. If so get onto an internet connection, get into the app, go to the in game -settings, and log out of your Microsoft account. That’s how I fixed my bug. Also make sure you don’t have a vpn active. Also your grammar ARE INCREDIBLE VERY!

@jonathan - can't sign out of the account on the minecraft app as we can't get into the app to start with.  I think we'll just remain patient for a fix, I'm sure they're working on it, should be relatively easy to reproduce the problem from their end..

For us, we don't even have a Microsoft account. There are no parental restrictions, or any type of account other than an iTunes account. There has never been a VPN configuration. Wi-Fi on or off it doesn't matter. iPad 2 with iOS 9.3.5.

@sophie My nephew's iPad Mini is on the latest version of iPadOS, he was getting this error before we updated to Minecraft 1.13 and then also after we updated to iPadOS 13.2.2 - it was working until we imposed the xbox parental controls.. seems to be something different for everyone!

  • I have secure wifi with no additional checks - the other iPad on the same network runs MC with no issues

• Try logging out of the Xbox account

  • Is this possible without a running copy of MC? (as the crash happens way before seeing any account options)

  • Would changing the password on the account force this?

  • Or is there a remote force logout in XBox accounts?

This happens to me on my iPad (5th generation) with latest version on iOS when I have no internet connection.

Sorry, my conclusion was based on my own investigation and results and that seemed to be the pattern.

Just FYI - my son's iPad Air with iOS 10.3.2 and Minecraft 1.13 which all works perfectly has an Xbox Live account and he is signed in... so that doesn't seem to be the cause either 🤔

Not sure if it's the same issue, as it looks like there are a few different iOS versions here, but I resolved this in iOS 13.2 by using the "offload" feature, which retains all the data but removes the app. Then after reinstalling it worked and all the worlds and packs were still intact.

After trying to launch and being dumped to the desktop Minecraft still shows up in the recent apps with a view of the main page with Play etc. buttons. When you select it that page then becomes visible but unresponsive then dumps to the desktop again... Rinse and repeat.

Bringing up your kids isnt going to make it go faster. Sorry if that comes off rude but this isnt the place for that. The bug fix list is open to the public and the link can be found on the discord page. Its not mentionedin the list because its not been fixed yet. And like the mod said its a lot harder to pinpoint why it works for some ios versions and not others. They are still working on it. Using harsh words doesnt solve anything coding is complicated and hard. I get it though I'm frustraited as well but all I can do is wait for the fix.

Ok mine was still crashing after the upgrade to 1.13.2. I never deleted the app and just waited it out. I went into the settings and offloaded the app to the cloud and then when I re downloaded it it worked. Just an idea if it doesn’t work after the upgrade to try.

So if others can vouch deleting the old app before installing the latest version fixed their crashing problem (esp. on an older iPad) then I’ll delete and reinstall and copy back the worlds.

I ended up moving just my daughter's worlds (using iExplorer) to her brother's newer ipad so that at least she could play a little. His newer ipad had no problems with the 10.30 upgrade or yesterdays drop(ipad air 2 running 12.4.2). I won't be taking any upgrades any time soon. Good Luck everyone.

It's finally working correctly on my iPad (MD512NF/A) on iOS 10.3.3 !

I can confirm the 1.13.2 hotfix has stopped the crashing issues on iPhone 5 running 10.3.3 I did delete the old copy (1.13.2) and install 1.13.3 as a fresh copy from iTunes and all works as intended, thanks again guys for all the work involved.

Hi guys.  I have downloaded 1.13.2 onto an iPad 4 gen running iOS 10.3.4 and it still crashing - Mojang logo, white screen and back to homepage.  I do run parental app qustodio which has been disabled, so no parental vpn and a restart. but still no change.  thanks for all your hard work. A simple update didn't work for me. I had to remove Minecraft. Restart the ipad, then reinstall Minecraft. The ipad is on ios 10.3. 3.

If you have updated to 1.13.2 and are still having crashing problems and you don't want to completely uninstall the game and risk losing worlds this process worked for me on 3 different iPads.

Crashing issue persists on Minecraft for iPhone6 even after updating to 1.13.2. This is unacceptable that this has yet to be fixed after 3 weeks. I am not entering any of my worlds as to risk corruption because my worlds are extremely important. Please fix this crashing issue ASAP I am getting very frustrated.

The crashes seem to only happen if you were signed in to Xbox Live then opening the game without an Internet connection

The latest update 1.13.2 seems to have worked for Minecraft on my two iPhone 5S models running the latest 9.X version. It's a little slow to start (maybe not far off from typical) but it gets to the main menu without crashing. Thanks for pushing out this fix, and I hope you can resolve issues for other users soon!

I can confirm that 1.13.2 has fixed the problem on my iPad 2 (IOS version 9.3.5), so thanks Developers, and I'll now be locking it to this version from now on to protect me from future problems. Bye.

Mine now works on 1.13 2 update - After following Greg Ericksons advice on moving the iPad minecraft storage to the cloud and then relaunching minecraft.

2 iPad 2's are now working.

One was upgraded 1.13.0 -> 1.13.2 and now works

The other was upgrade from prior to 1.13.0 -> 1.13.2.

They do experience a slow load time, but that may be normal.  No xbox account on either, but Internet available via wifi.

Help! Desperate 9 yr old son has lost all of his worlds after the update to 1.13.2! How can we restore his lost worlds?

I have an iPad 4 Model A1458 and version 1.13.2 of Minecraft. In version 1.13.1 I got a white screen that stays there for more than 10 minutes so I quit the app and conclude it doesn't work.

Problem solved with 1.13.2 in iPad 4! Installed app from 1.13.1 shut down iPad after closing all apps. Powered it on... took a while to load but works. Played with the kids for a while today. Locking auto app update. Thanks for fixing it!!

I'm happy the problem has now been resolved! Unfortunately I was impatient and deleted my Minecraft and now I'm starting from scratch. I guess now it is a new beginning for me.

The 1.13.2 hotfix/update did NOT fix this...  still the same crashing within a few minutes, still can NOT access the marketplace.

three iPads and it will only run on one (all up-to-date iOS and Minecraft). Have tried the get rounds - can do the wifi suggestion but not the log-out as can't get to the screen to do it.

1.13.2 fixed it past the Mojang white screen, but now it crashes on sign in.  So still can't play with friends.  Can you please just release the old version that worked for people on iOS, I really don't care about foxes and skins and would rather be able to actually play, it's been weeks!

1.13.1 on iPadOS 13.2.2 was flakey but would eventually work for me. But 1.13.2 doesn't work at all. Crashes at different points, but has always crashed by the time it can load a world. Both local worlds and connecting to a server.

Update 1.13.2 has fixed the loading issue i was experiencing on iOS iPad4.

It hasn't crashed yet as experienced by many others.

Minecraft on iPhone 6 remains unplayable. Crashes within a minute of opening and has been this way for 2 weeks. This is very frustrating and is putting my project significantly behind schedule. I’m seeing the same issues on an iPhone 7+ with iOS 13.1.2 and 13.1.3. The slowness does appear to be time of day related, but independent of screen time controls.
