Please no one install Java 6 ... It is obsolete and has major security problems.

It'll be "a few days" when I see it. I'm more likely to think by the time OS X 10.15 is out they'll have it fixed. I follow this as a legacy as I stopped and lost interest in Minecraft by this point.

It is long, long past the point of being ridiculous that this has not been fixed by now. I'm sure your average, computer user knows enough to download a Linux launcher or do any of these work arounds. I'm not going to wait around anymore and am deleting the program.

That is in no way a viable solution for a lot of people playing Minecraft who are not technically inclined. This is a problem for Mojang to fix instead of ignore.

No movement on this? No official word that "Hey guys, we're on the case and this will be fixed soon!"

This was not a surprise. Nothing posted is a viable solution and geeks are not the only people who play Minecraft anymore. This should have been fixed LONG before the release of OS X 10.10 and I'm about ready to just toss in the hat and move on to another game.

Given the number of beta releases I don't really see any excuse as to why this is a problem upon release of 10.10.

Voted for this issue as there's no way I'm installing Java 6 on my machine given how dated it is at this point.

With the release of OS X I'm not going to, for any reason, install Java 6 on my machine. Hopefully a new version can be downloaded. I'm not running scripts, doing anything via command line I'm going to click on the link or just uninstall it.
